Hi Raj No it’s not there. I probably didn’t describe it very well. It’s in the roof cover that lifts up at the back of the roof to store the soft top when you take it down. Mine was a problem with the locking mechanism that holds that cover down when it comes back down after the soft top has been pu...

Hi raj Mine was the micro switch on the drivers side locking mechanism. The bit that locks the roof compartment lid down when the roof is put up or down. I have had the clicking bit before and that was the mechanism that is under the rear seat right in the middle. That is quite a common issue with t...

So the roof fault came back again and following the advice on here she has been to Colin Woods. Dan was great and diagnosed it then managed to source the parts needed without having to buy a whole new roof from the dealer. It’s now back and all working and fixed for a reasonable cost. Great shout on...

I ordered a set from Sytners last year as mine were not original when I got it. They do have the bit on the bottom but it is plain black and fairly discreet ( on a black car )

Thanks to all for the advice

I have now had it fixed by pets at home

Mrs B went to get some dog food and put it in the boot. Lights have gone out and roof works again.

Happy days :D

Let’s hope it stays fixed.

Thanks HAP Derek Forrest was the bloke I used to use and like you the main dealer for servicing. Derek Forrest himself was brilliant and knew everything but he died a few years ago. The people who took over are ok but not the same. I am ok with Sopers for the general stuff but we took it to a perfor...

Great decision for keeping her Simon. Sounds silly but I am guessing you already checked the boot space saver is open to accept the soft top? Also the boot lid fully closes as this would stop the roof moving. Anyway worth a shot! Any independent bmw specialist near you? Yes I have checked both of t...

Good decision Simon I nearly let mine go but it didnt go and I haven't looked back since To be honest the main reason I thought about it was that when it does need something I struggle to find anyone to work on it who really understands what it is properly. They think they do and make the right noi...

Thanks HAP

Yes it is Sopers

I have seen the thread on the link and tried all those things.

I will probably just have to bite the bullet and send it. To be fair to the car it hasn’t cost me a penny other than consumables in 12 years until this year so I probably can’t complain really.
