Re: Check down the back of the sofa

Stunning car ruined by a shocking interior, if I had the money I’d buy it and rip it out.

Re: Oil leak on B10 V8 - which oil to use?

The oil drips down onto the lower engine cover / splash guard, and when enough builds up, it works its way through the oil drain plug flap which is the lowest point and drips out onto the ground. If it didn't have that flap, it would likely capture a large amount of oil over a period of time. The e...

Re: Oil leak on B10 V8 - which oil to use?

I admire your intentions but I'm not sure you'll even notice any drop to your oil level at 5 drips a day. When you say 'on your tarmac' I presume you mean onto the plastic engine drip tray so you won't really even notice it. I'd just wipe off the oil on a weekly basis and be done with it until it ge...

does anybody know the approximate cost and availability of the dampers ?
I got a quote for genuine springs & dampers for my B10 4.6 and the cost was approx £1,600 - this was about 6 months ago but wasn’t through BMW or Sytner who I think are considerably more expensive!

That sounds like a really annoying incident and we all get wound up from time to time, but these days you never know how dangerous or stupid the other driver might be so take it easy. I’ve been thinking about a dashcam for some time but don’t think anything for your phone is a worthwhile substitute ...

I'm sure they can Asim but I don't think this is gonna save any money!

have heard that you have to warm the brakes up everytime you start driving prior to achieving good braking power. Is this true Hi Rav, I agree that is one of the oft quoted comments about ceramic brake pads but my experience with the Bobcat 1521 compound doesn't bear that out - hit the brakes and t...

Ceramic brake pads

I’ve always been resigned to brake dust making my wheels a mess, and as the OEM pads seemed to work as well if not better than most after-market options (for road use at least) I’d never bothered to look any further. However I came across a thread specifically about reduced brake dust and one well r...

Fair enough, but I would think most cars from 2014 could manage that mileage - I think I’m more impressed with the driver 😊

Am I the only one that doesn't understand why this should be such an achievement, a 2014 car that's managed to cover 210,000 miles?

Any reason why the post isn't in the Alpinas for sale section?

I was told a few years ago that Michelin manufacture specific numbers of some of their tyres annually and they can run out before the next year’s production. I did email them when I was struggling and they were spectacularly unhelpful. I think you might find some by ringing round some specialist tyr...

Great to see the enthusiasm you’ve got back for the car Kevin, I know I’m biased but the E39 is still a pretty good car even after all these years and the B10 is just a better version. I’ve done a few similar mods to make it a bit more ‘modern’ with the USB ports and front ‘Ultimate’ cup holders fro...
