Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?

I washed and gave a light polish to all three Alpina's today after a busy week underneath the Fleet. First this week a long overdue o/s front control arm change on the M635CSi - it had been on there a long, long time and was picked up as an advisory on the last two MoT's, and the ball joint really d...

Re: why are some models rarer than others?

A lot of them are rare simply due to price; BMW have always been fairly generous with discounts but Sytner/Alpina are positively miserly therefore I suspect a few more people would have chosen an M3 over a B3, a 760iL over a B7 and so on. These days the Alpina model prices are keener than ever compa...

Interesting estimate given the mileage - I think the auction result will interest a few people.

Re: Hello - New member

Welcome to the forum, that's a nice pair of Alpina's you have. There were two lwb rhd B12 5.7 cars ordered for the UK but no lwb rhd B12 6.0 cars ordered for the UK, but there are more than one made for the Japan market. It's a very rare Alpina model anyway, and rarer still in rhd.

Re: Taking Payment

I've paid cash for all my cars; I tell the sellers in advance the cash will be in a sealed envelope, stamped, signed and annotated with the amount by the cashier when I withdraw it. Two of the three most recent sellers never even bothered opening the envelope to count it.

Re: Considering my first Alpina

Diesel will be around for some time yet as larger vehicles will still use it, but the days of naturally aspirated engines, especially larger ones, has passed. The V8 cars of the E39 era still sound like a baby NASCAR but I have pondered whether the V12 in the B12 could do with a little more noise; t...

Re: Considering my first Alpina

It's extremely popular to knock diesels at the moment. However, in my old D3 BiTurbo I covered all but 150,000 miles and by a very rough-and-ready calculation I reckon I saved over £10,000 on fuel compared to what I'd have spent in a B3. So, if it was worth less than a B3 would have been when I sol...

Re: Considering my first Alpina

To re-iterate what PhillV8S said, I have a fairly lengthy list of buyers for two of my cars and the last time I even thought about selling the other I was inundated. I don't think this is unusual for the petrol engined versions and some of the rarer diesel cars; on the flip side, I bought two of my ...

Re: Considering my first Alpina

My background is that I have owned and driven pretty much only BMW's for the thick end of 30 years, with standard models, M's and Alpina's on the drive. To answer a few of your questions, one thing that attracted me was that Alpina make the models sometimes that BMW Motorsport don't such as their ra...

the 3 and s look same size but should not be I'm afraid you are incorrect. The 3 and the S on my car are the same size too and this is how it came from the factory. However, like hap, I have seen them different sizes as well - so I guess it depends on what Buchloe decided to do at the time. A trawl...

Re: B3S SPECIFIC ALPINA PARTS INFORMATION

I don't know of a link to any Alpina Parts Catalogues for cars newer than the E90 cars. Most of the stuff up to about 2004-ish can be found but I think Buchloe stopped freely issuing stuff after that. Luckily e-mailing Buchloe are good at answering e-mails and identifying parts so try that if you're...
