D3s finally here....

Post by Hydranger » Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:21 am

Finally have my D3s from Sytner Coventry after 6 + months wait.... Went for the understated look on 19" dynamic.
Skyscraper grey with Tartufo extended.

So far so good.
Not a fan of the post LCI touch screen display in almost all BM's now but i-drive v 8.5 is much better than expected with most functions easily accessible via rotary controller. There are also shortcuts now on the display which you can assign (presumably to placate those missing their shortcut buttons on pre LCI cars)...and you don't have to touch the screen to access them..👍

Ride in comfort or Com+ generally very good on the 19" wheels as expected albeit bad road surfaces and potholes intrude into the cabin way more than my 530d on 19"s which glides over anything by comparison. (Now that it doesn't have runflats that is)

I have no experience on the P Zero tyres till now but wondering whether they are more rigid and less compliant than my Michelin PS4' s on the really bad roads......

Can't fault process in acquiring the car with Sytner Coventry (thanks to Milo) and the guys at Topaz in Leicester (Front end PPF)

Nice combination there. Loving that. Interesting what you said about the ride / comfort between the G31 and this. Considering a 530 myself.

Have run the G31 530d since new in 2017. Mine is an SE car but has the the adaptive suspension which is better than the passive SE or M sport set up IMO. I did take off the RFT tyres however which improves ride , noise, grip and economy further.
After 75,000 miles it's still an awesome car, quick and economical.
The only thing it's had other than tyres / servicing has been an EGR cooler but that was recently replaced FOC under a standard BMW recall.
You won't be disappointed if you find one with spec you like.

Great interior colour. The bigger screen does take some getting used to, looks great behind the wheel, no so sure peering in from the window, but it is just preference and changing times.

Is 2025 really the last time we will be able to have the 3/4/5 series Alpina in any format. The 5 is no more on the configurator and it will be sad to see the rest drop off the list.
