That was a great read about their perspective on the values of ALPINA especially the older models.

I and David Barrington attended Radwood 2024 owned and organised by Haggerty. There I met a chap with a collection of 30 ALPINA who mentioned the US market is paying big numbers for the older models. I guess this article confirms what he said.

Wow did I read this wrong, does it not say ALPINA prices are lower than a comparative M car or even standard BMW of a similar age? I suppose if I were a German and looked at UK prices compared with those in Europe I might draw the same conclusion as the article?

Cars are like property, indeed they are property and worth whatever anyone feels they wish or can afford to pay.

Interesting read.

My take on pricing is linked to awareness of the brand. I have a lot of friends who are petrol heads but very few knew or understood Alpina was a manufacturer and considered it as a luxury trim level of BMW ... and certainly not competition for M cars.

Personally I don't care. They are hidden gems IMO and always will be. Whether the wider public cotton on to this or not I don't know.

I agree. I had BMW cars from 1993, never an ALPINA. Was just too busy to have time for car clubs or meets etc, so was not until joined a car club and met ALPINA owner did I have a clue that it wasn't a fitted kitchen company.

The less people who know suits me fine, I just go about in my B7 and they think there is some "old boy" in his banger BMW.

You would think that a company supposedly a market leader in the car world would do their research properly :(

If they did, they would not call Alpina a tuner, as they have been a manufacturer in their own right since 1983 :D

I am always amused at the perception of ALPINA, in the USA, my view is most owners see them as some Tuning arm of BMW. Notwithstanding the actual status.
