Alpina B3 3.0 e36 - LILA METALLIC???

Post by H-M » Fri May 24, 2013 6:08 am

Hello guys,

I have been desperately seeking Alpina B3, preferably with 3.2 and manual gearbox. Well now there is this one on offer:

http://www.alpina-archive.com/?p=1808&n ... Cabrio-029

It is 3.0 and with automatic box. The color is... weird. And that along with the "Böser Blick" makes me quite unsure. Car felt quite good and even the switchtronic automatic was actually quite ok (I liked it a lot more than Steptronic). But the car has only 100 000 kilometers on the ODO and seems to be in quite good condition inside and out. What do you guys think, can one live with such color :) I would probably be "deleting" the böser blick (means new bonnet/hood and the kidney grille + painting - 1000+ euros probably) - but I cannot paint the car to another colour, I think, it would cost quite a bit :D

Thanks for your thoughts in advance!

Well that is some colour! It would definitely be exclusive and I think the only way you can get away with running this would be to keep it highly polished at all times.

Please explain what a "Boser Blick" is, I have looked at the pictures but can't figure it out.

Hehe, I would love to be so fearless :D

Boser blick or however they are called are the lengthening of the bonnet so that it extends to kidney grille. And also curves in front of the headlight, as you can see in one of the pictures there...

Thanks, I appreciate your points! :)

It would be a great winter car in Finland... Long winter nights would make it far less conspicuous

not sure on the colour myself and I don't like this euro bonnet change, however do something with the bonnet and return it to standard and it could be quick a good car. Despite the colour. Would that have been an individual option?

Thanks everybody :) I don't like the bonnet as such either so that would definitely have to go. With only 100tkms it really could be nice. Driving it felt like that. I have had e90 325i, e46 330i (ZHP, US version with Alpina cams etc) and two e36 328i's and I have to say I like e36 more than the newer ones..

And yes, it is individual color. Metallic lila, if you google image search it, there are some others in the world as well :) Even 8-series...

I did think the bonnet was different but thought it was a trick of the light or reflection although the line over the headlamp looked strange.

Well this is a first for me, after many years of owning BMW's including four 3 series (inc. e36) I was unaware of the "Boser Blick" or this extended euro bonnet/hood.

You learn something every day.
