D3 MT Cold Rough Idle

Post by KA020L_L » Wed Jan 13, 2021 5:20 pm

Hi

New member here of Alpina D3 MT

D3 is got 87k mls , got her just over a week and she is suffering with some issue . After cold start runs fine , but then 2-3 min later rough idle until warm , then runs fine. I suspect EGR blocked...but dont know , what is your advise ?

Also im under impression that this is linked somehow as from time to time i keep stalling her, sometimes 2-3 times in conditions which should never happen to me :D

Pulls strong above 1600 rpm no issue there .

What you guys think ?

Tia

Welcome to the forum!

Have read through this thread, and the other thread linked in it, quite a bit of dicsussion on D3 MT's and the potential causes of problems. First step really seems to be, get the fault codes read/cleared and rechecked to see where to start looking.

Hi

If the car has had dpf issues in the past then the inlet manifold and the EGR can become seriously gunked up. I had mine off and steam cleaned.

Allso, it could be a problem with the Pierberg pressure converter for the EGR valve. The vacuum hoses are also known to perish.

Worth swapping the glow plugs at the same time. I had 3 giving fault codes and the car is idling a lot better now. My car just hit 80k.
