After deliberation ... test drives (XD3 twice, and G21 B3) ... and more deliberation, I've just ordered a G21 D3 S Touring. Delivery due in May 2021.

Considering full deco set (silver).
Vernasca leather (likely Cognac, but possibly Oyster).
Considering the seat back roundels.
Heated front and rear seats - kids moan if they're cold!
Lumbar support - I'm getting old.

Final spec needs to be confirmed by February.

Congratulations, you're in for a long wait but I'm sure it will be worth it!

Not looked before, but there aren't many 'standard' metallic colours are there? The cognac leather sounds like a great choice but I'd be tempted by gold dekor to compliment it and the seat badges will give you a nice lift over a standard 3er. Otherwise, have you considered wood for the dash, sounds a bargain at £150.

Congrats on the order. Love the choice, if you run with it, of Portimao Blue and the Cognac interior, question is with the blue/green rhombs in the headrests, I still love that oldschool look!

What did you think of the XD3? I recently drove an X3 M40i and am thinking of one next. I can’t afford the pre-Reg XD3 at Sytners...

I thought the XD3 was good ... for an SUV. Engine wise it was it was not not lacking (very good actually), but dynamically, like all SUVs, it was compromised. I drove an X3 M40i last summer and my thoughts were the same. The way a car handles is high up my agenda, more so than the engine, and as good as the X3/XD3 G01 is, it will never be up there with the G2x ... in my opinion. A drive in the latest G21 B3 confirmed this very quickly.
