As lovely as the Alpina wheel design is, are they the same width/offset as standard F30 staggered mSport wheels?
I'm still looking for the 'right' D3/D4 and am seeing lots on 20inch wheels. My intention would be to use it reasonably often, potentially all year round and living in Scotland, these 20-inch wheels look like a very quick route to pothole damage. I'd actually prefer to find one on 19's. Which got me thinking, looks aside, would swopping the 20's for regular F30 design 19's (on the right non-run flat tyre of course) have any implications?
I've never seen anywhere that suggest that Alpina do anything that would influence the offset or anything like that, other than they fit very slightly wider tyres (265 v 255 on the rear) so I can't see why it would be an issue.
The original wheels of course would sit happily in the garage, damage free, until I changed my mind, or sold the car again.
F30 D3 wheels
For example, I run a set of 17" BMW style 44 wheels with winter tyres on my E46. These BMW tyres were standard fit on the E46 and work fine because they have the same offset.
I do know, however, that E46 wheels do not work on E90 cars (and vice versa) because the offset is different between models - be they BMW or ALPINA wheels.
As such, I believe that standard F30 BMW wheels that would have been fitted to the donor car would be suitable.

As long as the new wheels come from the same model (E46-E46 etc) of vehicle then you won't have an issue so any OEM 18 or 19" wheelset that is from another 3 series F3X model will bolt straight on
