B8

Under development, available in three more likely four years time. According to the Alpina representative I spoke to today at Goodwood. Form an orderly queue now...

The original B8 3.2's were made in E12, E23 and E24 body shapes according to both the Weiss-Blau Alpina book (p82) and the OAL-BB50 book (p450), both of which had full access to Buchloe archives.

They had 3210cc engines with 240bhp, made between 1977 and 1980, and the Weiss Blau gives a general number of about 200 cars over all three chassis types.

E24's were definitely offered in B7, B7S, B8, B9, B10 and B11 versions and there might even be an 2788cc 205bhp E24 B6/1 2.8 out there as there were apparently about 20 cars converted from E24 628CSi's and E28 528i's during a short period in mid-1983.

It demonstrates how the engine numbering system for cars became so confusing...
I knew about E12's, not about E23/24, I stand corrected.

Perhaps I'd better get my OAL book out of the plastic wrapper and actually read it :? :?

e23 B8 is incredibly rare, as are the e12 variants of the 6 series.

I know of 3 B8 e23's and only one is running...
