E46 B3 S COUPE #020

Post by Bob » Wed Sep 29, 2021 10:52 pm

One of the 16 pre-LCI B3S' has come up on eBay today. Looks good in the pics, sensible mileage and seems fairly priced.

If you mean 'loddrik', I'm pretty sure he had #007, his was Black with Grey leather, M3 mirrors and registered Nov-02 rather than this one which is Dec-02

There was also 'jonny320is' who I think owned #021, which had M3 mirrors and Anthracite Buffalo leather.

Am I right in thinking that if it hasn't already been done, this will be due a HG and TC rebuild soon?

Based on Charles' research that does seem to be the expectation.

Bit random, but did it get decided that the big 'S' badge was only on the pre-LCI cars, the posts got the smaller one? Looks that way to me.

Not on my one which is LCI and has a big S - which doesn't help your hypothesis at all

Ah, I should've been a little more specific in my earlier observation ... that was solely in relation to Coupes. LCI was Apr-03 onwards.

Having been and looked again across the other bodystyles it's not as straight forward given they received their facelifts at differing points.
- All the saloons were LCI and the majority had a large S. Only the very latest cars had a small S (#144 was large and #237 is small). Possibly the changeover was on the 2004MY (Sep-03)
- Similarly the Tourings were all LCI and only the last two UK cars had a small S. They both appear to be May-03 built or later cars
- Cabrios it looks to be the same as Coupes, in that pre-LCI had large S and post-LCI were small. LCI was May-03 builds onwards.
