E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
Another of the B3S Cabs up for sale. Not seen this one since 2018 when Listers sold it with 33k for £24k.
Not sure why, but the E93 B3S' have the highest concentration of bespoke interiors of any UK ALPINA model I've seen. By that I mean some combination of: lavalina options, bespoke stitched and/or bi-colour steering wheels rims, door or seat rhombs and leather edged floor mats. Only about 25% of them have standard blue/green stitched steering wheel in black leather, no rhombs on door armrest or seat backs and plain ALPINA badged mats.

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
I wonder how many of these were originally demo cars, and therefore specified a 'little differently' in an effort to persuade purchasers of the value of differentiation from the norm. Still too many have dark interiors, and white cars, especially droptops, look fabulous with red leather and highlights,
Cheers
Bobbly
Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
I know three of them were shown a Goodwood in 2010 or 11 but curiously they all had standard blue/green stitch steering wheels, only one had leather edged mats but they did all have the rhombs on the armrests and two of them had black leather.bobbly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:17 amI wonder how many of these were originally demo cars, and therefore specified a 'little differently' in an effort to persuade purchasers of the value of differentiation from the norm. Half of them came with Black Dakota, only 3 had Coral Red Dakota.

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
Hello again,
I have seen this car advertised and am very interested. It is now down to £24990.00. I am aware they have the N54 engine (with Alpina pistons and software IIRC) and I am familiar with this as I also have a Z4. If it is still for sale,, could someone give me some pointers to look for. I know about the potential problems with the hardtop (again got an E89 Z4).
Just from the pictures it looks like it needs wheels refurbed and the wheel centre hubs are not in the best nick.
Thanks for any feedback in advance.

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
I have found that the key to a smoothly operating hardtop - which I believe means longer term reliable - is in the regular maintenance of it.
By that, I mean about once every couple of months I treat the mechanism and seals to the care that is detailed in the (dare I mention it ? ... ummm ... yes ...) 'Bimmerfest' forum: "https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/keep ... pe.609222/".
This is superb description of how to look after it.
When you have done it once, it becomes easy and not a chore.
I might add that when I first got the car, it seemed a sluggish movement; so I measured the power consumption of the hardtop operation, then again after my first maintenance session, and then the top consumed about 25% less current ( although it does vary a lot during each phase of operation ); so I suspect the battery life probably might be a little longer now - although as a rule I usually only operate it with the engine running.
As a footnote .. IMO if the wheels/hubs need a refurb then maybe the price is a bit too high ?

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
It is. Most common model of its type: they're often on sale, a little monochrome and dare I say underwhelming. It also doesn't look truly 'loved'.
Knock another £3k off to around £22k and then it's 'about right'. I used plenty of E93 sale numbers in the mix before deciding the asking price of the E91.
Current:

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
'Desirable' leads to fast sale at correct price. Well maintained 1/3 E91: 3 days. Price...unimportant. Most common UK model with questionable history (re CB info) ...takes a while especially at this price. For that era of petrol Alpina in the UK, these rate at 'quite common'. I disliked the weight distribution of the E93, hence avoided them in the past, and the boot space with the roof down is silly (I know this as I ran an E93 for a thankfully very short time). I think most buyers realise the practicality just isn't there.

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
I would disagree with you there, I am having no problems with weight distribution, perhaps because it is an Alpina with the extra power and better balance.ade and liz flint wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 2:20 pmI disliked the weight distribution of the E93, hence avoided them in the past, and the boot space with the roof down is silly (I know this as I ran an E93 for a thankfully very short time). Also I was doubtful about the available boot space, but have found it more than adequate for the 2 of us for a weeks trip.
It is all down to whether you like convertibles, I love them, the sense of freedom is difficult to beat.
The only downside is our c**p weather.
Having had both B3.3 an B3S E46 versions I find the E93 superior in every way.
Hopefully next year I will be able to take it to the K-H-K meeting in Germany

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231
Yes probably about right
I did have a cheeky bid at £19k on the basis I think it would need about £2k to make spot on and at £21k it would have been a bargain. Would have kept it until the spring and tried to get the better half to part with the E46 and sell one of them.
Even at the selling price and then a couple of grand someone will have a nice car at £23k IMHO
I wonder if it is someone on here
