E90 D3 BiTurbo #400

Post by Bob » Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:10 pm

This one was discussed as part of a Wanted thread back in Mar-21.

If my assumption is correct, then #400 is about to come up again with a dealer in Nottingham.

#400 was for sale privately from Sep to Nov-20 with 91k miles. It was advertised at £10.5k, then £10k but didn't get much interest apparently. This ad came up the other day and based on reg date, mileage, colour, transmission it seems a good guess (ad does say 1 owner but private seller said 3 owner?). I'd be surprised if the dealer gave more than £9k for it and going off other cars for sale recently, it'll be around a very long time at £15k.

D3 BITURBO [E90 LCI] #400 300 - Alpine White III/FMAT - Anthracite Impulse Cloth/Leather; 2011_61; £15.0k; 93k; Trade
Since Mar-21 #400 has been advertised under two different seller accounts but the same images so presume they are related. Price dropped steadily from £15k down to £10k and then yesterday dropped to £8k. Might be an opportunity for someone as it looks like the dealer may be ready to throw in the towel.

Note: the private seller's ad stated 3 owners (not one) and the last MOT in May-21 had the mileage at 93k (not 89k)

Apart from the high performance ecstacy tyres this looks like a nice buy. Saloon e90 facelift in white + an Alpina nice car.

Aren’t they Kuhmo’s Rav? I’d take them over a true Ditchfinder Special (Nankang, Davanti) any day. I was more worried about the dubious stain on the rear armrest. 😆

I was trying to ignore that ;-) Mind you, mine had a very dubious stain on the back seat when I went to view it, but they did have the decency to clean it off once I'd committed to buy.

Kuhmos seem to be the best of the economy performance brands from what I read...However anything Nankang Davanti Shanling Snowcatcher or Goodride is questionable.... MOT passers....

If you look closely the front spoiler has a crack in the paintwork front an impact, it’s only slight and it’s obviously been painted with the Alpina logo being all white.

The drivers wing has a dent on the leading edge which I guess could be removed with a dent man although it’s an awkward place and you run the risk of cracking the paint.

It looks good otherwise, I’m always dubious when a car been for sale for a long time though given the experience of the previous Alpina I tried to buy.

I can't spot a crack in the front spoiler, where about is it? Also, the front splitter is just painted as standard and the lettering in silver/gold/black is a decal which was a zero cost option originally.

6-9mths is a pretty standard timeframe for an ALPINA to sit on a dealer forecourt. The ones that tend to sell quickly are private sales or the cars are particularly rare/desirable.

That makes sense Bob, at least it’s easy to add it back on. I do think it looks better with the lettering highlighted. My betting is it’s had the bumper done as some point, at least since it was new. Not so much of an issue as long as it’s not a result of accident damage.

If you look at the splitter it has cracks in the paint consistent with an impact, maybe kissing a curb?

Thanks, I was looking for an actual crack rather than crazed paint. The splitters are low and do catch easily, mine catches just getting off the drive unless you take quite an acute angle of approach.

It's gone up £500! I always fancied a white one but don't need a diesel as not driving much. Currently driving a E38 728i sport which I love. Looking for a set of 20" Alpina Classics for it if anyone has a set in the corner of their garage gathering dust! :)
