I can’t stop looking at the advert and imagining a full restoration back to its former glory. It would never make economic sense, but would bring a great deal of satisfaction.
It doesn't make economic sense at £12k+ at todays values, but there's only 32 of them... So if it was 50-75% of that price and someone were to restore it and then gently burble around in it for ten years on sunny days, it could well be worth it!

Whether the E36s will reach the heights of the E30s is one for discussion. But history has been very kind to the values of rare 3 series models.

If anyone disagrees, that's fine, but promise not to tell my wife :D

I’m aware of only one b3 3.2 coupe on a S plate and this one I doubt without looking that there will be any other variants in estriol blue on the e36

Have a banter Paul with the history provided it could be Uber cool motor
#074 is the only 3.2 of any bodystyle I've seen in Estoril prior to this one.

I've been keeping track of the B3 3.2's as best I can and reckon there's quite a few of these that have fallen by the wayside over the years.

Of the 32:
  • 5 - never identified build numbers
  • 2 - evidence they've been dismantled
  • 6 - evidence they've been exported
  • 1 - hasn't had MOT in more than 5yrs but it is being restored by a specialist
  • 7 - had an MOT within last 5yrs (1 is yours & 1 other Owner known)
  • 7 - don't know current registration (1 was sold within last year)
  • 4 - hold a current MOT

So, at best I'd say 75% survive but in all likelihood, the number that are within reasonable reach of an MOT seems more realistically about 50%.

A friend of mine who lives in Port Elphinstone near Inverurie has/had an Alpina Green B3 3.2 with beige/tan leather. I am not sure if he still has it as I have not spoken to him since the Covid crisis started but he was using it regularly until 2015/16 when the area was affected badly with flooding a a couple of his classics were affected. I need to get in touch with him as it has been a while and find out about his car. I did know the number but can'y remember.

Any info you have John would be gratefully received. I only know of five 3.2's (across the bodystyles) in any shade of green with a tan interior. I wonder if the one you know is saloon #046? That one's last MOT expired in 2016.

Of the 35 UK Coupes, I've got details of 32 and none of them are Green so potentially this is one I've not come across before :D

Turns out it is already on the Archive, but cunningly labelled as being in Scotland, so I missed whilst scanning for UK cars.

There is/was definitely at least one other factory manual in the UK, and apparently there is a 3rd RHD manual but I don't know if that is a UK car or maybe Japanese?

E36 B3 3.2 COUPE #032 (ALPINA Blue) was discussed here.
