Alpina C2 2.7 price advice

Post by Rjg » Sat Apr 23, 2022 1:45 am

I am thinking of selling my C2. Against my better judgement but I’m just not using it and unfortunately kids cost too much!

It’s a well known C2, block is stamped along with the throttle body. Loads of history, letters from sytner confirming and the original log book written by mark.

My only worry is the head. I have the original, which is all cleaned up and will go with the car (really interesting comparing against a standard!) - unfortunately it was mixing again and a third repair would potentially been too much. So I had a virgin 1988 885 casting replicated (ported and chambers replicated to match exactly) by a well know independent engine builder. Correct cam from alpina direct has been replaced so it’s as good as new really.

How much do you think the replacement head would affect resale? I have the original, it has maybe one skim left in it, but would need a thicker gasket if the new owner really wants it back I suppose!

Great car, 1988 alpine white, grey genuine Recaro cloth interior, a/c, cruise, map lights etc. I’ve attached a pic I’m sure you will all recognise it.

Thanks in advance
Richard

Yeah it is his old car - I did expect it to be recognised.

Thank you Barry, I’m no photographer I think I just got lucky with the timing!

its a nice one, i can attest as i've driven it!

next to mine in jan 2019. I'd say like everything its worth more than what you paid for it, like every car at the minute! I know what it sold for last time i think. Its just the higher mileage stops it from being top money is all id say. They've ALL had cylinder head repairs at some point so i'd not worry on that front

I have to say that is a beautiful c2! Are you local to BMR?

I hear you with the mileage, but as you know it drives and looks like it’s done a fraction of that so I was absolutely sold when I saw it.

With the head, I am one for absolute originality. So I wanted a c2 that was 1000% genuine and not had bits swapped out or any doubt over if it is or isn’t a genuine, especially the important stuff like the engine. (fyi - I didn’t put the stripes on, that was the chap previous… but they’ve grown on me enough to leave them on!)
