Selling my E39 B10 V8S

Post by halbe01 » Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:29 pm

Hi all,

It looks like I’m going to need to sell my B10 V8S shortly – but I need some advice as to value. I saw a similar one on PistonHeads a month or two ago which was up for £25k or so, though it had twice the mileage mine has. It didn't stay up long so I'm hoping it sold quickly for nearly that price. There are so few similar cars coming up for sale that it’s hard to gauge what I should price it at.

It’s a B10 V8 S, 2003, 63k, FSH, and in exceptional condition inside and out with a brand new set of PS4 tyres. Blue (well sort of a blue with a hint of purple), with black leather.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben.

Hi nice car it’s alpina blue, think it’s 045 build yours
Only comparable one was on collecting car with 58k bid up to 17.5k but I think it didn’t meet reserve and is back up for sale

If you are in no rush speak to old cornel cars on a sale or return basis

Correct hap, it's Zion's old car. Given it's only about a year since it sold it should be worth similar money .. £18k-ish

#056 is the only one I know of currently for sale at £22k with 147k, but it started at £16k back in Sep-20, dropped to £14k in Oct-20, disappeared in Nov-20 then reappeared in Jul-20 at £22k

The recent sales I'm aware of are:
#033 Brian's old Techno Violet car that sold Jul-21 via HPC Classics (last advertised at £25,750 w 115k)
#036 Sold via Collecting Cars in Nov-20 for £13k inc Fees with 59k
#091 Sold via Collecting Cars in Aug-20 for £18.8k inc Fees with 58k

As hap said, I would definitely speak to some of the specialist dealers like HPC, Old Colonel, Classic Heroes, etc

I would consider Zion as as private trader on his record. He bought my old V8s and sold it in quick order and others also from what I saw!

Thanks guys. I must have been #33 I saw advertised recently which, given the higher mileage, made me think mine might be worth something more than I originally paid for it. At £18k I'd rather keep it a few years! What that car special in some way, or perhaps it sold for way less than the asking price?

I also have a same generation M5 which seems to be increasing in value every year (which is both a blessing and a curse - it's always nice to have an appreciating asset, but it means if I want to buy a second one it'll cost me more).

B.

My Techno Violet No.33 sold for £24500, which was the lowest I was prepared to accept.
It took a couple of months to sell, but you just have to wait until the right person comes along :D
It was higher mileage, but the record of expenditure was such that nothing major would have needed replacing for many years.
I enjoyed owning the V8S very much, but decided I wanted something newer, hence the E93 B3S.

With low mileage I don't see why £25k is not a reasonable starting price especially as e39 M5's are being advertised for £40k plus. E39's are certainly on the up!

Yes this is my old car. I'm not a private trader. I've had 3 V8s' and this one was leagues ahead of the other two condition wise. I'm happy to help fill in any background on the ownership.

Ben - we actually live about 300 yards from each other! Such a small world - drop me a PM it would be good to meet!

Interesting stuff - thanks guys.

Zion - I've just messaged you directly on that odd location coincidence!

And nice to see a couple of Maserati owners in this thread too - I sold my 2007 Gransport in order to buy the V8S - it was the second one I've had and I already miss it! I shouldn't be, but I still browse the adverts just in case the exact right colour combination comes up again...

Yes a few of us with Maserati as well as Alpina - gluttons for punishment! :) I have two, so my Gransport (MC-Victory version in Blu Victory) may come up for sale next spring.
