E46 B3 3.3 Saloon #325

Post by sshologram47 » Sun Jul 25, 2021 12:28 pm

I am regretfully selling my e46 Alpina B3 #325. I have owned the car for a year and a half with the view to keep it many years and enjoy driving the car whilst giving it some TLC. However due to a change in my circumstances mainly in the form of a small baby girl, I do not have the time and resources required to keep up the TLC part. I would love to keep it if I had the space to dry store long term. Need a car more sensible for family/dad duties unfortunately.

The car has been well maintained by myself and I have receipts for the work carried out under my ownership and from early owners but not much from previous owner as he did not give it as much love. I have outlined the work done in my ownership below for which I have receipts. The dreaded e46 rear subframe issue has been addressed so no need to worry about this in future!

The car is fantastic to drive and is very engaging. All electrics work including the AC, sunroof, electric heated seats and rear sun blind. I mostly used it for occasional longer journeys on A roads/motorways and it is parked using a car cover when not in use on my driveway. I have driven it around 2000 miles, mileage is now 127k. The car has 6 previous owners.

It does need a wheel bearing replaced and lambda sensors. It also has some surface rust on rear wheel arches and other age related marks such as stone chips on front bumper. I was planning on an exterior cosmetic refresh in these areas as it would bring the car to excellent condition. People always comment on how they love the colour.

Work completed
• Full rear subframe chassis repair and reinforcement (lower and upper) + bushes + brake lines. Receipt for £2200
• Full rear differential recondition (bearings, seals and oil). Receipt for £1200
• Propshaft centre mount and rebalance
• New wheel centre cap locks and keys
• New alternator
• Gearbox oil and filter change (ZF 5HP19 kit)
• New Michelin PS4 tyres
• Wheel speed/ABS sensor
• Full service including oil, coolant, filters and drive belt
• AC recharge

I am looking for £8.5k, open to offers. I am posting on Alpina forum first before other sites to gauge interest as I have respect for this community and its knowledge and passion. Provided I receive a reasonable offer I will sell it, otherwise I may keep it until I have more time to dedicate to it. Message me if you have any questions. Thanks

Nice car - very similar to mine. I will be interested to see how long this takes to sell. Good luck with the sale.

Not wishing to pry, but what about your car doesn't make it suitable for family/dad duties? I ask as I run a business selling children's car seats (amongst other things) and I'm always keen to understand the decisions people/customers make. Size wise from my own experience an A4/3 series/C-Class saloon is a great car for a young family and I only bumped in to the limitations when heading for a holiday (luggage, plus pram and child paraphernalia)

Is it the lack of ISOFIX? Or is it just that you need something more modern that is less likely to need time and effort spent on it?

Cheers, James

I think space wise it meets minimum requirements. Its more about the time and effort required to be spent on it if and when required. For example finding part numbers between alpina/328/330 models and determining which one is right for the car takes a lot of time for me.

That makes sense and thanks for sharing. Certainly maintaining any older car takes a good chunk of time and an Alpina more so when seeking to maintain originality.

Good luck with the sale, it looks to be a really nice example.
