Looks good in red, quite unusual for E46 B3's. To me both front wings look a slightly darker shade than the rest of the car, or is it just the lighting?
Yes, seems very noticeable on some pics
Both front wings have been replaced (as stated in the original post) so this would probably explain it.
Yep, good point

Shame someone wasn't taught about paint matching  Red is a complete sod to match, but it can be done

Is that because red paint is more susceptible to fading due to UV light than other colours, making a paint match more than just picking the original red?

There, I've answered my own question ...

Red paint reflects red light. It therefore absorbs blue, green, UV etc light. The shorter wavelengths of light have greater energy and cause more "bleaching" of the pigments in the paint than the other colours. Therefore it fades quicker.

Correct. Same with yellow. Much more effort is therefore required in blending the paint colour to match the degree of fade, and as the paint continues to age, the issue continues to manifest, so always best to paint a complete side if it's a long term project or one would be back to it in no time to correct the shading. Most colours are easily blended into existing paint by continuing the blend into the adjacent panels only.

The 'best' red cars used to be old polos and corsas where the paint on metal fades at a different rate to that on plastics ( eg bumpers) and gives a startling mismatch in time if unattended with polishes and sealants from the start. Yellow was so notorious for fade that VAG stopped producing cars in that hue as it faded so quickly after the change to water based paints, but they seem to have sorted it now so it's no worse than red.....

Don't think so Bob :think , overpriced too many miles, and grim looking stripes :(

Still looking for a Red touring though, either fuel.
When I bought my B3S BT back in 2011 a chap was just collecting his Red Touring, it looked stunning.
Perhaps you can tell me how may Red ones are out there.

#320 is that one Ade, it’s been back over here for a good few years. Now owned by a chap who frequents the Facebook groups
