Selling Hellrot red 2001 B3 3.3 Coupe Advice Please

Post by andyc » Thu Jun 11, 2020 5:33 pm

I would appreciate from the guys who know what to ask for the car.
I have owned the car since November 2010 and have been really pleased with it. Its in great condition -113k miles, and MOT'd until February 2021.

Good points:
The body work is in really lovely condition. Both front wings replaced late 2016, 2017 all 4 wheels powder coated with new decals still immaculate. All the tyres are Michelin PS3 with plenty of tread and about 5 years old - car is only used a couple of times a week. I have full BMW and specialist service history. The engine is sweet. A compression test for peace of mind in 2016 gave a 210 to 215PS1 for every pot. Again for peace of mind, at 103k miles the autobox was flushed and new filter fitted. All 4 shocks have been replaced with bilsteins - I have retained the original Alpina shocks.

I purchased the car with 96,000 miles on the clock. Other work in this time includes new front discs, pads and calipers, radiator header tank, power steering pump, water pump and battery. Some suspension work and a few other minor jobs.

Bad points
Aircon not working - aircon pulley started squealing as damp had got in at the car wash. My specialist was shut for Xmas. A mechanic neighbour removed belt and the increase in power was small but noticeable. I never fixed it. Also rear window not working, oil service and coolant change required next few months.

I feel the time has finally come for a change. Covid has delayed this but I hope to get this up for sale soon. If you could give me an idea of how much to put up for sale /if anybody is interested please let me know. Out of interest my BMW specialist MVT who has maintained it for last 10 years has offered me £5700. I feel it is worth a bit more but he would purchase it as it in for this priceImage

When you send a PM, it stays in your Outbox until the recipient opens it - at which point it moves to your Sent box

With everything working, it is probably worth in the region of £8-10k so I think their bid is a bit on the low side, even with the list of jobs you have detailed as needing doing.

Looks good in red, quite unusual for E46 B3's. To me both front wings look a slightly darker shade than the rest of the car, or is it just the lighting?

Good spot. It seems to end at the door shut line on the N/S and half way through the door on the O/S, plus the O/S rear arch looks darker to me. Some different pics may help the seller IMO if that is purely light effects, but knowing how these E46's love a bit of tin worm in those zones, it wouldn't be surprising if it wasn't fresher paint. The OP's original post pix above seem to show it too, and in different light Shame, as otherwise looks rather nice

Cheers

E46 B3 3.3 #140

There can't be many E46s still on original front wings that don't show at least a little blistering by now.

Both front wings have been replaced (as stated in the original post) so this would probably explain it.
