Congratulations Trilly-UK.

I would love to get another Alpina, and this community do sell some treasured examples - the missus wants to change car, but doesn't want to go bigger than a 1 Series......
Frosty - given the F40 is so gigantic, in absolute terms that gives you plenty of scope. Reckon you could get away with an E46 easily.
  • F40: 4,319mm x 1,799mm
  • E46: 4,490mm x 1,810mm

Beat me to it!

Having had an F20 and E46 side by side the difference is barely noticeable.

The F20 is actually a little longer, but narrower.

Well Avtar has sold #270 B3 E46, to me :D

Toby and I went out for a local but long drive this evening and both agree it’s more fun and comfortable than my D4.

I know I said I was looking for a cab, but hey, a man can change his mind.

Thanks so much to Avtar for his patience when picking it up as HSBC wanted to hang on to my money, took a while to sort.

And the car. I have a 330ci E46 cab but they are so so different. With the work Avtar has undertaken #270 is a real pleasure to drive.

I am a very lucky man in having to decide which Alpina to bring to a meet.
I am so glad that the Alpina has gone to a great home, it's clear that these gents appreciate the car and have plans for the long term. It was a pleasure to deal with a couple of genuine guys.

A good result all round.

Any more ideas for the replacement Avtar?

Still keen on the 6 Series Gran Coupe, just wondering if it should be the M6 or the 650 which would be a nicer ride but they seem to be harder to find?

There's another M6GC on Collecting Cars at the moment - looks superb and they are great value at the moment:

Nice, however, I am looking for one with a non black interior so it is not so dark, since they have a Carbon roof so no sunroof option. Also that one is reaching Main Dealer money when consider the 6% commision.

Thanks Bob, that picture really does show how big and ugly the new 1 series is.

Presently researching the M140i flavour so I can have a bit of fun driving it too.

My wife currently has a 118d (which is a great car to be fair). However, I was looking at 140is before purchasing the B5 for exactly the same reasons - I bet they are a lot of fun. I had a 130i back in the day which was an absolute cracker.

I can’t believe they have now gone transverse engine and front wheel drive. Not to mention the grille. Depressing from the brand I love so much....

There were two nice colour combination M6 Gran Coupe that have both sold. Now expanding my search to include X5M and X6M to give myself more options.

I was pretty set on getting an X5M as I didn't expect a B5 to become available. I wanted a V8 BMW estate ideally but the X5M was the next best thing. They are a cracking spec as standard and pretty good value at the moment.
