Shame you didn't get the full reg. Could it've been this one hap?It's the only one which is actually registered as a Y-plate (unless it was a cherish) viewtopic.php?f=57&t=24341

Only know of 5 E39's in Japan Red:

B10 V8 - F4 [E39] #757; 438 - Japan Red/LAV2 - Black Lavalina w Red Piping Leather; 2000_W; DISMANTLED after accident damage in 2009
B10 V8/1 [E39 LCI] #067; 438 - Japan Red/P3AT - Anthracite Buffalo w Red Piping Leather; 2001_Y; 167k; Y947 WFC
B10 V8 S [E39 LCI] #044; 438 - Japan Red/* Champagne w Red Piping Leather; 2002_02;
B10 V8 S [E39 LCI] #048; 438 - Japan Red/* Champagne w Red Piping Leather; 2003_53;
