nothing I suppose.. apart from the container has to be returned to the states to be refilled so this would have to be factored into the refill 'costs'

Jacoda434, I am not having a dig at you and please do not take it as such. My only interest in posting this is because I just would like to know the true value for Zymol wax.

Economically how much is the wax worth? I don’t know anything about wax if Zymol is the best, or if it is all PR/marketing.

Lets say I decided to start a professional detailer business and I only use Zymol, and I wash 15 cars each week. At the end of every week I need a refill. In time my business grows, I therefore hire 4 new staff hence I now have 5 Zymols. As my business is a success, I spend 30 years developing the business and I only use 5 Zymols throughout that time.

Therefore in 30 years Zymol will be making a substantial loss (I actually would say after 36 weeks they will be starting to making a loss). My formula is £7000 for the price of Zymol / 1.66 (Zymol believe the product requires a refill every 18 months by the average customer (not business customer) who washes his car once a month). Therefore the true amount for the wax is below £4500. I can’t remember how I worked out 36 weeks because I am starting to fall asleep, as it is late. However my point is what business decides to make a loss? There must be strict terms and conditions for the refill certificate (which I can’t find on the internet anywhere) which say things like: refill is free for life but can only be refilled so many times each year. If there is no strict terms and conditions for the ownership of the certificate, and I can refill every week then the true value of the wax is not anything – not even a penny.

If anyone can provide me with Zymol certificate terms and conditions for refills, I will workout out a formula to establish the true value.

Neal

just to clarify - you get alot more than 5 cars even from the smallest of zymol sample tubs... not sure exactly how many - but possibly 100+ full car waxes.. each car would take considerably less wax than a size of an egg. (sorry best analogy I could think of)

additionally you don;t wax every time you wash - zymol provides a surface/finish that allows you to wash and buff up again without the need to rewax - not sure why you think most zymol users would need a refill after 18 months (perhaps from the very small sampler tubs)

I am starting to fall asleep, but I am sure that I read somewhere that it is only good for 15 to 20 washes but I stand corrected hence the figure of 18 months

I am moving the goal posts now but lets say, I have 4 employees and myself and only one tub of zymol. We all wash 3 cars each day = 15 x 5 days = 75 cars. Also I rotate staff for weekends hence 5 cars are washed during that time = 80 cars per week. This is what I am confused about: if the certificate is for the average customer as well as business traders. Zymol will be making money out of household customers but a loss with traders.

If I am looking at this from the wrong angle then I will shut up. :silence

Neal I do hear where you're coming from..

but my understanding is that even the best detailer out there would struggle to do more than 1 car per day...

the car has to be completely washed/dried and prepped using HD Cleanse or similar before it's ready to have the wax hand applied which in itself is a time consuming process.

You also say that they will be losing money to traders but not domestis users - that could be true - but then surely that depends on how much it actually costs to produce the product... (i'd guess the markup is very high indeed)

Wouldn’t it be cheaper if someone made their own zymol?
