Convertible Hood Restoration

Post by Avtar » Thu Jul 09, 2020 6:51 pm

Hi All,

I have read on here that washing powder is good for cleaning a convertible roof, what I would like to know is are then are any products that are good for restoring the colour of the roof?

Thanks

I've used the Autoglym kit which has worked really well for me - there's enough to do the roof twice. The only thing is that if the hood is faded, you would then need something like Renovo to bring back the colour. I've not used Renovo but am sue others have done.

Not sure on washing power and a brush - might be worth it if the hood is really grotty.

Hope that helps,

Mike

Bio washing powder, tick, and renovo, tick. Mine wasn't 'grotty' at all, but they all hold dirt and get a little bit of algae on them so if you're doing it right, use a scouring action first, and the powder helps this. Get a stiffish brush on it. Post treatment, moisture absorbency will be far less.

Renovo is good, but it won't get a very worn and faded hood back to as-new. Regular care does. though. Don't forget to crack the roof open a tad and get into the recess at the rear. Good luck, and a well treated hood :D

Cheers
Bobbly

So I used the Renovo Cleaner and then the Renovo Restorer of which one coat was sufficient, has come up a treat, very pleased.
