Today’s Treatments: Enhancement Detail & Ceramic Protection

Here is a members 2005 Z4 Alpina. Write up from detailing world!

Here we have a 2005 Z4 Alpina. This lovely motor was in for a 1/2 stage machine correction (minor), full Ceramic Protection & interior detail, leather feed and all round protection.

So, after a nice drive from Bristol the Alpina was showing its hours on the road before coming to see me. So, this is what happened.

So first pre-wash with citrus pre-wash

Image

Wheels Cleaned with Bilberry Wheel cleaner & the Swissvax Detailing brush from my Meguiars bottle and foam head :thumb:

Image

Then foamed off with Autobrite Direct MegiFoam.

Image

Intricate areas then worked with G101 and Swissvax detailing brush.

Image

Image

Image

Then rinsed again ready for a 2 bucket wash

Image

Using DoDo Juice wookie & Supernatural Shampoo to give it a nice, limited sud wash.

Rinsed again, de-tared and Sprayed with Purple Rain before been brought inside and dried using Plush Microfibre towels. The roof wash dried with the Wet-Vac and the other areas with the Air Gun.

Image

Paint work then clayed with Autoglym Clay & Lube.

Now, paint work cleaned here are some shots before i got machining.

After one pass with Scholl S17+ here are some 50/50 shots.

Once happy with the paint, the G-3 Glasscoat Sealant was applied to everything bar rubber and the inside was treated to leather feeding, carpets shampooed and then everything sealed.

So, here is what she looked like after the 2 day detail.

And to finish it off, as requested by the customer.

Very happy with the results. The only other thing i would have like'd to have done was re-die the roof. This is something i would quote for but as the car was located in Bristol i did not get to see what she was like until it was dropped off.

Comments always welcome!!

Very good Nick! I'll have to bring mine after the great job you did on the 120d.

How did you do the decal? I want to put one on.

Wonder if the bronze one you've just done is on here too?

In a nutshell

- Order decal (with or without stripes) from Simon (SPA69)

- Clean area to rempve bugs etc.

- Wash down area with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). You can get this easily from eBay

- Use a spray bottle of water with a tiny amount of detergent as a lubricant to moisten the area and allow a bit of slip for repositioning as you apply

- If you're going to put on stripes, make sure you check positioning / orientation before putting them on or you'll feel as stupid as I did

Nicely owned-up to!

Good 'how-to' Perry  NB - it's better to seperate all the individual letters off from the strip with scissors ie DON'T try and fit as they come as the spacing is incorrect. Then fit each letter individually. You can get Isopropyl Alcohol wipes from chemists.

If you have existing, tatty lettering, peel off what you can with your fingers and use a blunt edge to gently massage the remains off, using the IA as a 'loosener' if required. Takes a little patience.

Yeah, I got a 1L spray bottle from eBay because it's useful for lots of other things too - and no that doesn't include drinking

Could not have said that better my self /\

Tried lining it up and as above they dont line up. Had to do each letter on its own. Just so it lines up right.

Thanks again for all the kind comments.
