Monday 9th October

Post by D4 » Tue Oct 10, 2006 12:01 am

Well it seems that since our leader needs some motivation with his Blog he's deemed it necessary that the other mods should join in and share their worldly experiences and thoughts with the rest of the forum...

This is bit of a new thing for me, so please ignore me if my ramblings seem a little less structured than they should. (given time i'm sure i'll get the hang of it..)

Some thoughts from today:

Colds & Flu's
It's Monday evening and as I sit here coughing and sneezing and sipping mug after mug of Lemsip - it makes me wonder, Colds where do they come from and what is their purpose?
Yes it's that time of year again i'm afraid I seem to have been cursed with one fairly early on this year... hopefully the last - though I doubt it.

Food
Pub Food in particular
What is the our fasciantion of leaving our houses to go to a pub or resturant to pay for food that in many cases is quite frankly sub standard to that which we'd cook in our own homes. Our country is scattered with eateries which churn out bland menus with bland tasting food (there are exceptions to this of course) but in the main the UK pub menu is an awful mismatch of poorly assembled dishes that quite frankly haven't moved on much from the 'chicken-in-a-basket' style of the 80's

Anyway that's enough ranting for now... not exactly car related this time.. but like I said earlier.. i'm sure practice will perfect this black art of blogging...

i'll catch up with you again soon...

You get colds from pub food. It's a marketing ploy like the one where they put salt in your pint to make you more thirsty so you buy another. Giving you a cold makes you more prone to think "hey, I feel crap... I think I'll go and sit by the roaring fire in the pub to make me feel better"

See above. After 10 pints (which doesn't quench your thirst) you feel obliged to eat somthing to soak it all up. But they also add salt mixed with flu virus to every meal to make you drink more and to make you feel depressed at home with the flu so you come back for more. :)

Have you tried Vicks First Defence?... it does appear to nip colds in the bud.

If you ask me it was when pubs stopped offering traditional pub fayre like Chicken in the basket and sausage and chips that the trouble started.

Much rather a good solid meal like the above, than some ponsy expensive and doubtless substandard attempt at grilled red mullett nestling on a bed of rocket with a white wine jus.
