Re: That's a very very big number
Wow, that’s one reliable engine and thought mine was highish now at 93k. Have you ever thought of having the car dynoed to see if the power has been retained?
Re: That's a very very big number
Not quite, John - it is very much a "Trigger's Broom"!!!
The original engine was rebuilt at 180k miles, a new cylinder head was installed at 250k miles (courtesy of too many skims as a result of HG failures every 80k miles) and then I had to replace the block last year at 347k miles due to excessive wear in the cylinders. I've now pretty much run-in the "new" engine and I am sure she is putting out at least 300bhp and 285lbft

Re: That's a very very big number
A fantastic achievement Charles and a real indication of just how passionate you are about your car. Is that 350k miles, you have driven as I recall you bought new from BMW Canary Warf?
Oh and I can confirm that its putting out 300bhp as when you kindly drove me in it, it was fast!!

Re: That's a very very big number
Thanks - it's been fun so far, despite the occasional roadside despair, and gearing up for the next milestones along the way

Re: That's a very very big number
Could you ever consider changing it now? Engine aside, how's the rest of it holding up?
