Another day, a few more bits added and the vacuum pump under the inlet manifold has had new life breathed into it!

Coming along nicely. Hopefully you can actually drive it once it’s complete.

That's a relief! When do you plan to collect?

I bet you can’t wait to try out the new motor (after running in of course).

I'm confined to barracks but Phil is happy to drive it over and collect his loan car.

Looking like it'll be this Thursday :D

Running in the same car twice - that's novel!

Might be a while before I can do so, sadly.

The plan was to get her back on Thursday but then there was a curious oil pressure warning light on idle that needed fixing - turned out all it needed was to replace the O rings in the heart of the oil filter body which are never normally changed.

That was sorted at lunchtime today but then, as I was chatting to Phil about getting her back tomorrow the power steering pump failed! Admittedly this was the original pump so was probably due for retirement anyway. Parts are on order for Monday.

So it appears that the shakedown tests are proving useful as it is weeding out all the other niggly bits that need fixing/replacing and I should get the car back early next week :D

I dare ask, but you may not dare admit, what all this is going to cost Charles...?

Less than the difference between scrap value and market value when running!
