B3 3.3 Touring No. 89

Post by asp » Fri Oct 02, 2020 1:33 pm

I’ve been doing the odd update and repair to No. 89, and starting to get some miles on it again after being barely used for a while. Lockdown/furlough has been fantastic to give it the attention I’ve been meaning to, and for enjoying meaningless drives again!

Very nice - always love a Touring and something good to come out of lockdown too.

As mentioned previously, I’ve been working with someone to develop one-off, made to fit stripes for the B3.

I know many won’t like them, but they’re literally stickers and are changed out very quickly. I’ve never been particularly keen on Alpina’s standard decal sets from the 90’s to current days, and I’ve preferred the previous style up to the E28 era. I’ve worked with a former designer for BMW to accurately map the body shape, and to update a variation of the previous aesthetic. The gold is bold.... and just what’s been used for it’s first application. We’ve already got the next set planned, but there’s other project cars in before that so I’m not sure when that’ll be.

Anyway, this is it...

Someone else posted a link to your Insta page in another thread. It’s definitely marmite, but not for me I’m afraid. I’d favour the subtle and understated look. If your happy though, that’s what matters and as you say it is only stickers.
