D3BT #454

Post by ttrill » Sun Jul 26, 2020 9:00 pm

Picked up #454 a week ago now. Done 1000 very enjoyable miles so far and many more to come. Ceramic coated the wheels myself with the auto finesse wheel ceramics kit (would recommend for only £25, can do two coats as well). No major plans for the car other than a few trips to Germany further down the line and maybe a trip to the Nurburgring in a few weeks.

Yes as bob mentioned it’s got the oyster leather and burr walnut.
To get the gloss I used G3 paintwork restorer with a hard pad on my polisher with some bilt hamber liquid wax after.

Very nice, and looks to have been specially spec'd as most have no options, but yours has Xenons and leather etc

Yep has lots of options on it which makes a nice change to the usual poverty spec. On the original invoice it’s just over 12k worth of extras.

I'll get some more photos done of it soon and get the spec sheet up soon. New windscreen this week. Car ticked over 80K this weekend and couldn't be happier with it so far. Had to Re-gas the aircon as that was pretty low and struggling. I'm most surprised at how well the car keeps itself settled, one particular road near where I am is particularly challenging for cars to keep settled and not make a fuss about. The D4 jumps around too much to put any real power down whereas the D3 just copes like nothing I've been in/ followed down the road.

Was Planning to do evo triangle at the end of August but getting any decent places to stay is pretty hard so it can wait.

Lovely. What the E9x D3biturbo lacks in outright grunt, it more than makes up for in ride and handling as you've discovered. Sublime setup

Cheers, and enjoy

Here’s the order sheet for the car. It would be interesting to know if there are any more in the UK that have similar levels of spec. I don’t think I’ve seen a saloon with xenons before.

Had oil/ all filters changed at BMR on Friday, car has much more torque than before. Next up will be a gearbox service as a preventative measure as well as a suspension refresh shortly after. Once that’s done I’ll move to the cosmetic side of things and get the near side doors resprayed as they have been poorly done previously and it bugs me too much to leave. Then maybe I’ll move to the front end and have that PPF’d.

Here’s the car at a recent trip to Duke of London, great place and great pizza too!

That looks really nice - the Xenons make such a difference aesthetically, as well as being great at night. It’s super clean too!

How did you find applying the ceramic coat to the wheels? Is it a simple process?

I have tried to code it with the remote but have not managed to get it to work yet, I’ll try the expert mode and let you know how i get on.
