I have seen the car a couple of times at BMR. Its a great job. The car has the original Sytner Nottingham technician in initials "MA" stamped on the engine. This is for Mark Adkin who did the work on the vehicle's engine. Very nice your will make 5 in total I know of and have seen.
Thanks Norrie. I knew that the car was built by Mark Adkin according to the service history, but I have to admit I didn't know there was a stamp on the engine.

It’s on the top of the inlet and also near bottom of dipstick
There is a 4 digit engine number stamped at the. Back of the engine if I remember windscreen side

Did u decide not to put the alpina exhaust on?

Hap, I was referring to MA stamp on the engine. I checked out the rest of the numbers during the purchase to ensure it all the matched up.

I think Simon13 mentioned here that the RHD Alpina used Janspeed mild steel six branch manifold . This six branch came with the car but the rest of the exhaust was not original Alpina and is NLA. Barry had a nearly new full Fritz Bitz stainless exhaust which is fitted to the car. If I come across a good Alpina exhaust then this will be fitted at a later date.

I was looking at the car with Simon SPA69 who owns a C2 2.7 and we were casting our eye over it. My knowledge is very limited, but his as an owner of one is far greater. We concluded this was a great example. I noticed the exhaust but almost immediately dismissed the fact that it was not original on the basis that I did not even consider there would be any availability to the original specification. I said to Simon "thats not the original exhaust is it?" I very much took it from his response that finding an original might be difficult?

It is a fantastic example and the quality of work from BMR looks first class. I am using them for my E65 B7 and my E39, my sons 435d and his partners Mini.

An update on #515, the car was found to have a small crack on the head. It was still on the original head so it went for a full engine rebuild with repairs to the head so the original head is retained. All the the pistons and engine components will be replaced.

The car should be like new when its ready :) :drool

I saw it today, the engines in the bay! Still some work to do refitting everything but looks good.

Will be a top C2 when the engines run in

stuff like the paint code used on the inlet and rocker cover should be put somewhere, it seems one of the most frequently asked question is, what is the RAL colour of those items?
