B10 3.3 Touring #047 off to bodyshop

So after three years of ownership, I’m treating the B10 to full sills, rear wheel arches, tailgate and painting of both sides of car with general other paintwork to “mint it up”.

I’ve had only two issues in 3 years being running out of fuel despite trying to get 1/2 mile to garage with 11 mile range left and the OSR jacking point failing.

The latter was the catalyst to look carefully at the bodywork. I spent a bit of time giving the NSR sill a very good prodding with a screwdriver blade - (far more than a mot guy could/would) - hence highlighting the obvious weakness. I’ve removed the wheel centres (as can be stiff to remove and for safekeeping) - the wheels will be off as both bumpers coming off for painting. Rest of car will get a good polish.

I’ll try and get some upto date pics as things progress. MOT runs out end of this month so good time to do it.

Arches on my B3 are very similar and there's paint lamination on the roof too. I had to get new front wings about 3 year ago but the shop had a mare trying to match the old paint. Near impossible unless yer going to a top class painter.
I've also decided on a full restore spray job, makes sense as I'm keeping the B3 till death. Pricy tho that's the only drama, but when it's done it's done! Hopefully it's going in next month!

I’ll keep pics coming - dependent on body shop letting me in to check progress but I know the guy and he said he’d do some anyway

Yes got the T5-R the early one (1994 - M reg) - when you could have any colour as long as it was yellow or black - mines black (actually rarer than the Gul Yellow which is surprising).

That’s my collection which I’ve have now- much to the wife’s disdain

Well after 4 months - still nothing from body shop !!
Rang them again today and they said need new battery as old one not holding charge - not surprised after 4 months.

Anyway they’re getting a new one so hopefully new year I’ll get it back

Went to see body shop to see how B10 coming along- it’s only be just over 6 months.

Nothing done to it yet at all - lots of apologies and promises to get it finished next month - fingers crossed.

I did threaten to take it off him and find another body shop but he’s adamant he wants to get it done.

Seems my in-person call into body shop the other day did the trick.

Had a call to show me the extent of rot - quite a bit. Been pretty stripped ready for rebuild of jacking points, floor and rear arches.

At least it’ll get done properly and hopefully look the part afterwards.
