Do remake ever work

Post by neil » Thu Feb 07, 2008 5:56 pm

Last night at Hathern we got into a pretty random conversation (only link was really car/motor related subjects)

One topic was the remake of KnightRider

which I thought was coming out as a feature film in the cinema - turns out it's US TV NBC...

The debat was about the car they were using for kit

Not sure it works for me - I guess I'll have to wait and see but from the trailer it doesn't quite do it for me.....

Other remakes I don't think worked

Miami Vice - it bored the pants of me and I switched off.
Duke of Hazard - not great
Starsky n' Hutch - is a better film but kind of a parody

One I liked were:

The Italian Job
The Thomas Crown Affair

any others ?

Watched 2 episodes of the new Nightrider now.

1st one - wasn't convinced
2nd one was a bit more promising - the new Kitt can transform from the Mustang into a F150 pickup !

Knightrider was pretty pants the first time around, anyway...but it all smacks of a lack of imaginatve talent, tbh, regurgitating old ideas such as D of H, Starsky & Hutch etc. I'd rather watch the originals for what they were.

I think you have upset KITT Image

I am sure that I mentioned this once before: the original and the remake are excellent ‘Gone in 60 seconds’
Oscar Wilde & Burkard Bovensiepen: I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.

Well I liked the film - and didn't really think it was too much of a remake - the original is too good to copy.

Im not sick of it yet, would love an FFVII remake. Actually, I think a remake of the first few Final Fantasy games would be nice too, the first Persona, and Suikoden I and II.
