Classics at Glenham Woodbridge 5th Sept 2021 - CANCELLED

Post by Norrie » Fri Feb 12, 2021 5:55 pm

Following the success of 2020 ALPINA gathering at the Glenham Classic where we had about 16 cars, there is a separate ALPINA only area which I have arranged with the Organiser. Please not this is not part of any of Club or group, so when booking to attend if you wish to park with other ALPINA owners then please state ALPINA.

Its a long way off, and covid etc. I shall post up more details later in the year. I believe there is also camping for those who like a ground sheet.

A rather negative approach. :?: I would of thought by September we will be in a position to organise something, even if its on a smaller scale.

Who are "we"? This event is not organised by me? This is a event organised by a group of people in Suffolk and is for charity. The gent who is an ALPINA owner who contacted me regarding 2020 event was out voted by his colleagues in terms of cancelling 2021 event. Therefore, any comments about it being cancelled, why and by whom should be directed to the organisers.

In terms of "we", I look forward to all the events organised by the group "we".

I think you might have misunderstood the previous post, Norman.

No-one is saying that you specifically were part of the organisers for the Glenham event and the "we" refers to a collective of members here who may be able to organise an informal get together later this year.

Hope this helps

With regards to 'we', I was referring to the whole country.

Apologies, I did misunderstand. However, because people choose to cancel events it may have a negative effect for those wish to attend but it does not mean all of the organisers are negative. In this specific case the ALPINA owner who is part of the committee is very upset at the cancellation decision.

We have already seen some events such as Glastonbury cancelled, others put back and deferred again, so its not limited to just small time events.

I am sure many share the desire to get out and do something, but I feel there will be a bottle neck of events and many like me are holding tickets for events carried over for 2020. The Silverstone Classic ( still on at the time of the post) has a separate ALPINA only location as not with the BMWCCGB for the first time in my 11 years of ownership, however I do not see the list of attendees swelling?

In terms of the Suffolk offering I am looking at another location near RAF Mildenhall where there is a show, but feel the date may clash.

The BMWCCGB cancelled their National event for the second year, this year was due to be a Donington in May, so even if one wanted to, there is no chance in 2021.
