Goodwood Festival of Speed July 2021

Post by Jules Sunleu » Thu Feb 04, 2021 4:46 pm

Afternoon all, I hope all are well in these strange times.

Hopefully the current restrictions will ease before too long and having had last year's tickets refunded I have rebooked for this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. I just wondered how many others may be bringing their Alpina along?

I've booked into the 'Performance Car Parking' on Saturday 10th July as a novelty it's the first time I've owned a qualifying car of any make (and with a shorter walk from car to event means any retail therapy won't be limited to small/light items!), and it would be great to catch up with any other owners and/or their cars if bringing their special steeds along.

Obviously we can't arrange any parking together as this is just down to arrival time (and I should be there early having booked a hotel locally for the night before) but it would be nice to know which cars to look out for in which car parks as part of the event for me in previous years has been seeing what people have arrived in being a festival for petrol (or diesel) heads.

Cheers,

Jules

Hello Jules. I have ticket for the Thursday from 2020. In 2019 did performance parking entrance via Gate 4, it is a steep gravel track for farm vehicles but fine with care and slow. The actual parking is a grassed area and it is easy to walk down inside the event. I took a picnic and went back and ate my own lunch as opposed to join queues for the burger etc. There are a number of "supercars" parked there, but mostly high end BMW, Jag, Audi etc.

Its worth it for the experience, I think its a bit over priced, but hey I did it once.

Exactly my reasoning too Norman, worth trying 'because I can' despite the cost and will then review whether worth it in future years. Leaving some food in the car is a good idea too now you mention it if there are long queues to eat inside.

I've done a few Thursdays in previous years and they were good as not too busy, but like the idea of a Saturday (having done once before only) as making a trip of it this time with the other half and a local hotel stay the day before.

Jules, yes agreed. I have a small fold up table and a couple of chairs, took the food in cool box. I was nice to sit up the top as opposed to queue, get food and struggle then to find place to sit. Yes its a few bob to park there but as you say you are making a trip of it so its in the mix. I did go on the Thursday and then on the Saturday, but ti was very busy. Enjoy.

I'm planning to do the Thursday and performance parking. I'm hoping it will be fairly quiet to enable some good photography. Fingers crossed for good weather.

I would think there will be next to no tickets for 2021 as with the price of them, most who still have a 2020 ticket will be attending if it takes place.

I understand that there is an ALPINA stand, however due to Covid restrictions it is alleged some of our German ALPINA friends are not attending due to being compelled to self isolate if they return home.

I understand not only will you need proof of immunisation or clear testing but recognised identity is necessary, ie Driving Licence or Passport. The ticket as well 2020 tickets are not valid and this needed to be exchanged for a 2021 version.

The event is operating at 75% capacity and some tickets are still available due to some International guests not attending.
