ALPINA @ Silverstone Classic 2020 - Discussion thread

Post by Charles » Fri Nov 29, 2019 1:22 am

To try and keep things tidy, I have started this thread to run in parallel to the event details thread.

This one is for general discussions.

The other one is for event details and adding your name to the attendee list.

Don't worry too much if you get the wrong one - I'll move posts around as appropriate.

I would like to thank Charles for his assistance in helping promote this event. There are very few opportunities for ALPINA owners to get together in one location. I totally understand it is difficult to attend events for all sorts of reasons, personal, family, work, holidays and financial, I am sure there are others.

We hope that by having a separate area at the Classic just for ALPINA owners it will bring people closer together and they can share information, discuss and view ALPINA close up. There are all the attractions of the event at Silverstone over the 3 days.

Tickets can be bought for any combination of days 1, 2 or all 3 days. Remember the early bird ticket is One ticket and one free ticket, but only ONE display Car pass.

I have done this event many times and Simon Alcorn has been doing it longer than my 7 years, if you have questions we will do our very best to answer them as precisely as possible.

Tickets booked for Sunday. Look forward to it. Was fantastic last time on the 50th meetup...

Will there be any chance of a parade lap?

It would be good if we all had Alpina branded tops!!! Where is the best place to get some Alpina clothing from ?

There will not be any chance of a parade lap, these are only offered for specific anniversaries of cars and models, Therefore 2015 the 50 years of ALPINA we had a parade.

The Official Clothing is via Sytner, clearly before we even started to ask them, who would have to get the stock from Buchloe we would need a reasonable amount of attendees on the ALPINA stand. Also someone would have to take payment for the merchandise and that involves staff from Sytner. I think this is something for potential discussion later on, but low on the issue scale. In the meantime follow the usual process to purchase.

Has anyone booked this event in the past and changed the car they are taking after they have booked?

I ask as i will be booking for the three days soon and will probably take the E92 B3 but 7 months is a long time for me when it comes to cars and something else may come my way.

HI morning,

Just looking on the e-mail confirmation I have for my tickets and there is a note about changing car reg.

If you need to change your vehicle details AND the vehicle model still represents the club, you will need to complete the online vehicle change form before 31 May by visiting www.silverstoneclassic.com/vehicleregchange. After 31 May, please email the Car Club Team - carclubs@silverstoneclassic.com.

They don't send out the passes until much closer to the event.

Mark.

I have booked previously and changed my vehicle for the same code, which was a B7 for an E39 both on the BMW Car club stand and code. However, I have no experience of swapping an ALPINA (for example) and associated code with another car club. I suggest one looks very carefully at the terms and conditions.

Mark has kindly posted up a link that will hopefully resolve any problems you may have with passes and tickets.

Just to make you all aware I have been attending this event for the last 20 Years so am very familiar with how Goose conduct theirselves, although this will be the first time as the ALPINA Register. Normally we are under the umbrella of the BMW Car Club.

I will be in contact with Goose at various times over the coming months as I’m the events coordinator for our display area.
Please just make contact with me if you have any problems and I will try to resolve them.

Tickets and passes won’t be posted out until approx 2 weeks before the event so we have plenty of time to sort out any issues with passes etc.

I had a call from a Gent trying to book tickets for the Classic on line. Just a reminder when applying with the code given, click on buy tickets and scroll down to "Buy Car Club package". He had now got his tickets and indeed so have I.

Family must always come first, especially if you have young children. I hope you are able to come to something else we organise.
