Renewed my ALPINA with A Plan Thatcham. Premuim dropped this year, 11 years no claims and I am an old boy. Always good service for me.
I used A-Plan for the first time last year and I was really happy with their premium and their service was first class.

Call me a grumpy git, but I only rate an insurance companies service they provide if and when a claim is made against their policy. The fact a company makes it easy to give money too is of no interest to me. The proof is found in the claiming experience when it comes to insurance policies in my opinion.
For the record I use A-plan also but as I haven’t had recourse to make a claim I’m not able to say if they are worth giving my money to over any other Insurance company.

I fully agree with you that the proof of the pudding for insurance companies is how good they are at handling claims, whether you are a grumpy git or not :D but when I was renewing last time I contacted them went through their questions and got a good quote quickly. I did the phone rounds that had the usual Alpina ignorance issues and stupid prices. Contacted Adrian Flux who I was previously with and went through the questions then they said were putting me through to their specialist department, which was actually a different company and after another round of questions said they would put me through to a better department, again a different company to deal with my type of vehicle and another round of questions, who then said they could not insure that type of vehicle. Many periods of being put on hold. Becoming a grumpy git by this point  . Went back to A-Plan the following day who picked up the quote and sorted things out very efficiently. I hope and assume that they can sort claims as efficiently and hopefully I won't have to find out.

I did find A-plan easy to use and got an agreed valuation policy sorted without too much extra hassle. It is good they know what Alpina’s are!
Let’s hope none of us need to find out how they deal with claims.🤞🏻

Just renewed via A Plan Thatcham office. 11 years no claims. Premium has decreased and have an agreed value. Tried Chris Knott, price was not dissimilar, but was put off by disinterested person who sent me a quote with the incorrect registration, despite me spelling it phonetically twice.

Adrian Flux did eventually agree they could insure my B7, however do not take NCD into account, I think their quote was about 500 pounds more?

Worst I ever had was Aviva cold call, lady said " I cant find a B7" Why dont you get a D3 and we can insure you?

Yeah Norman why don't you just get a D3..... join the gang.... .

I also insure with A Plan, mainly due to the fact that they actually know what an Alpina is. When I bought my car I spent 2 or 3 days ringing around companies who either didn't recognise the registration or didn't list Alpina and tried telling me its a modified 3 series so we can't cover you. Luckily my then current supplier managed to cover me but as soon as renewal came up, which happened to be the week after 2019 Silverstone classic, I spoke to A Plan at Silverstone and they were spot on. Also cheaper than my then current.

A-Plan Thatcham have come up with a competitive quotation for a multicar policy (Alpina D3S Touring, Subaru Forester, SEAT Arona). The underwriters insist upon a Cat 5 tracker for the Alpina (so I'll likely go with the BMW Trackstar from Sytner ahead of collection).

I'm dealing with Gareth Bown - in my experience he's very helpful and organised, which is quite rare these days. Contact him on 01635 874646.

Just need my Alpina to get here!
