B5 2006 e60 4.4 supercharged all the time average 27......... 32 on a motorway at 70-80 taking it easy. Less using the loud pedal. though the 27 figure includes spirited overtakes etc

2014 F11 D5 Biturbo - owned 12 months and driven 10,000 miles. 95% motorway. Average 47.0mpg indicated. Best around 52mpg, worst 40mpg. Total mileage 145,000.

We had a last minute trip to the French Alpes in January. My wife hates flying so we took the Alpina. Did the return trip in one hit. 826 miles. A great way to travel.

Hi folks

Does anyone have any stats on B5 fuel consumption?
I get very good numbers. I put it down to healthy engine and 5w30 oil.

I only count averages which are taken when parked at the beginning at end of trip. Coasting is bad form unless conditions dictate it.

I had 34 mpg and 33.2mpg this weekend on two runs this week.

I have had 34.8mpg.

Twice I had 37.6mpg after a long trip but both times circumstances conspired to bring that down so I didn't finish with that. (Mercs/standstill traffic).

SS traffic is the worst as its doing 0.0mpg so that ruins things.

Very confident I could get 36-37 but also it bores me to drive like this. Only when i have to.

More sensibly I get 29-32 with the kids in the car.

25-30 on my own. Getting on it, it's more like 20-25 average for a motorway trip.

As the B5 can go from 35 to 200 in 6th gear, once you get above about 85, MPG generally starts to head south.

But what is reassuring is the longer the trip the better the average.

In terms of town driving, its still decent at 16-19.

Only few weeks in. Full service after purchase.
From brimmed tank to ¼ full - trip showed 366; displayed average 40.5mpg; 45 litres to brim again I reckon as 36.6mpg real - so roughly 10% difference from display to real
Appreciate I'm trying get to get to grips with best way to drive but approx 240 miles commute with majority at 50 mph dual carriage (on active cruise mostly), 60 miles mix of 30mph urban and motorway and rest shorter trips

Car is 2014 D3 3.0 F31, all of the miles wwere in comfort mode, and auto in standard drive

For size of engine, performance, tyre size, weight, etc 36mpg (real) isn't bad, however, compared to other people's returns of mid 40s it's lacking

Are F3* D3 getting 45mpg (ish) on the display only?
Is there an issue with the car?
Does resetting adaptions help with previously learned behaviours?

Any feedback, suggestions, ideas welcome

36mpg for that sort of driving sounds low to me, might be worth getting it checked over.

Thanks. That was my thought
Everything seems right as far as how it drives
When it was serviced - oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter, also checked for fault codes on OBD and it was clear bar a couple of minor such as a climate control rear demister

Any thoughts on what else is worth checking?
