Re: Alpina Insurance
Renewal quote £1700 from Aviva, not entirely unexpected given what’s happened with car insurance recently. I’ve got 15 years NCD, no claims or convictions, 4000 miles a year and I don’t have an especially high risk profession (I think ). I do however live in the environs of some of the worst postcodes for car theft in the country, so there is that.
Anyway, £900 with Admiral was the absolute best I could get (would’ve been 20% cheaper with Billy Basic cover but that’s not for me). Plus I didn’t have to go through the usual hassle of ringing them up because they don’t know the difference between an Alpina and the Space Shuttle. Which is nice.

Re: Alpina Insurance
When I renewed in August the usual suspects (A-Plan & Adrian Flux) were quoting around a grand & the others I tried were even more. It was the NFU that came through for me with a decent package at around £500, plus, Which? magazine have them as the best car insurance company.

Re: Alpina Insurance
I was with LV (Allianz), at £510, renewal came in at almost £800, they couldn’t beat £750.
I went through all options suggested but Hastings eventually came in at around £560 including Roadside Assistance.
I tried the searches using ‘Alpina’ as the manufacturer, then B3 as the model etc, instead of ‘BMW’ then Alpina B3 as a model, for some reason the two paths generated around £150 difference for exactly the same car - same 2008 year, same 2979cc engine and same Coupe derivative.

Morning All
I've just renewed my policy for another year. I've gone through Howden's again (previously A-Plan). I'm actually insured with Highways Insurance through Howden's. Last year I paid £361. This year, £463. To be honest, I'm quite happy with that considering some of the horror quotes I've seen mentioned on here. I spoke with Holly at the Thatcham Office and she was really helpful. Details of renewal below.
Car - 2003 E46 B3s Vert.
£150 excess
Age 51
Myself and Spouse to drive
11 Years protected no claims
Nil claims and convictions
5000 miles per annum.
£39 Legal expenses cover.
Vehicle value - £18,000

Re: Alpina Insurance
Adrian Flux offered me £3.2k for the renewal, a mere 7x up on last year! Called a few of the names on here, and was told that my postcode (n5) was seen as almost uninsurable due to "rising thefts of Range Rovers".
I gave compare the market a go and now i'm paying £350 a year. The b3 3.3 cabrio is now seemingly "on the list" with Admiral and a few others, which seems to help.
(2002 B3 3.3, age 34, £500 excess, no claims or convictions, 2 yrs NCD, London N5, 4k miles per year)
