Re: Alpina Insurance
Hi All,
Haven't posted here in a while but am still an Alpina owner!
It's time to renew my insurance and I was wondering if anyone could recommend an insurance company that's giving a good deal at the moment?
I'm currently with A-Plan who are asking £420 for my B4BT. Tried Adrian Flux but they want double! They put me through to Be Wise who wanted over£1800!!
Have also tried at least one comparison site but the cheapest quote was around £800 again.
Any recommendations, please?
Colin

Re: Alpina Insurance
I was in the same position last month and called Admiral.
They quoted me a nice price and i saved £250 on the A-Plan price and over £500 on the KGM Lloyds price (my previous insurance company)
Good luck.

Re: Alpina Insurance
I had my B4BT insured with LV, less than £300 P A, worth trying them.
Just renewed my B10 V8S with LV £222 inc protected NCB and Breakdown cover.

Re: Alpina Insurance
Had fun with renewals for the B3s Cab. I've been with A-Plan since I bought the car in 2016 and have always found price/terms acceptable. However, in discussion this morning, I'm told that the quote I have is not for an agreed value - after a bit of haggling, they will entertain an agreed value subject to photos etc.
Also got the premium to drop from £316 to £276 on same terms as last year: 3k miles inc 1K business, £9K value, fully comp, on driveway (actually kept in garage...) 250xs, protected NCB, legal expenses, 2 claims (1 was a total loss) and, like Charles, I qualify for Saga Hols.
Not bad for 30 mins on a Saturday morning!

Renewal time
469 10 increase from last year
Same terms as before
Still annoying it’s not coming down much considering

Re: Alpina Insurance
This year my renewal with A-Plan was £419 but I managed to find a better deal with another company, so went back to A-Plan to see if they could beat it and they arranged the same cover but with Legal Costs included, for £329.

Re: Alpina Insurance
The simple answer is shop around.
When I bought my B5 I had a ‘mare getting insured.
A Plan wouldn’t touch it (worth too much) Flux was stupid money, online the car didn’t exist in the majority of drop downs, AIB & Chris Knott said you’re having a laugh, even BMW would not cover me!!!
Gary Lott at Sytner then pointed me in the direction of a local broker who got me covered for both myself/wife with the 530d and the B5 on the same policy at something approaching liveable with.
Luckily, a tracker was already fitted to the car. (absolute condition of every insurer)
All I had to do was take out a new contract and install some additional security at home.
Subsequently I’ve been quoted just shy of £500 by an online insurer which I’ll go with on renewal.
So many factors come into insurers risk algorithms the resulting premiums are all over the place.
Start throwing in agreed value, GAP etc and it becomes a swamp. Add stellar mileage, bit of business, postcode lottery and named drivers it's quicksand.
Spent absolutely “ages” looking into this, for me, perseverance finally seems to have paid off.
A couple of local mates have got F90 M5s.
It transpires one pays £550 through Sainsbury, the other £600 and odd (forgotten with who) which really pee'd me off when they told me.
I’m consumed with jealousy at the numbers some of you chaps are mentioning for the level of cover!
P.S I'm SAGA ready with (at this moment!) a clean licence for 35 years. Guess that qualifies me as a cash cow.
