ULEZ Compliance - Forum database

Post by Charles » Thu Jul 13, 2023 7:31 pm

I thought it might be helpful to compile a list of Alpinas that have received confirmation of their NOx emissions for ULEZ purposes. The threshold for both petrol and diesel is currently 0.08g/km (July 2023) which is Euro4 (petrol) - started in January 2005 - and Euro6 (diesel) - started in September 2014.

Where earlier models are listed as "ULEZ compliant", you will need to obtain an Emissions certificate from Alpina and then register the car manually with TfL and CAZ (see the guide in this section).

Please post a reply with similar information (Designation - Model - Engine size - NOx emissions) and I will update the list as I receive them

3 series
E36
B3 - 3.0 - 0.3637 - NOT compliant
B3 - 3.2 - switchtronic N Reg - NOT compliant
B3 - 3.2 - manual 6 speed P Reg - ULEZ compliant

E46
B3 - 3.3 - 0.0492 - ULEZ compliant
B3S - 3.4 - 0.076 - ULEZ compliant

E9x
B3 BiTurbo - Euro4 (petrol) - ULEZ compliant
B3 GT3 - Euro4 (petrol) - ULEZ compliant
D3 MT - 2.0 - reported as ULEZ compliant by several owners
D3 BT - 2.0 - 0.1191 - NOT compliant

F3x
B3 - should be Euro5 (petrol) so compliant but depends on how Sytner registered it - need confirmation
D3 - crossover between Euro5 & Euro6 (diesel) - early model confirmed as an "early adopter" - need CoC to register manually - ULEZ compliant

G2x
Should be compliant for both petrol and diesel - need confirmation

4 Series
F32
B4 - reported as compliant
D4 - 3.0 - 0.0696 - ULEZ Compliant

5 series
E39
B10 - 3.2 - no information
B10 - 3.3 - 0.059 - ULEZ compliant
B10 - V8 - 0.0627 - ULEZ compliant

E60
B5 - should be Euro4 (petrol) so compliant but depends on how Sytner registered it - need confirmation

F10
B5 - should be Euro5 (petrol) so compliant but depends on how Sytner registered it - need confirmation
D5 (pre LCI) - 0.1511 - NOT compliant
D5 (LCI) - crossover between Euro5 & Euro6 but may be an "early adopter" - need confirmation

G30
Should be compliant for both petrol and diesel - need confirmation

7 series
E38
B12 5.7 - reportedly ULEZ compliant but not confirmed

Roadster S
E85 - 3.4 - no information

Thanks for sharing - although that figure seems very low. The other B10 V8 figure I have seen is 0.0627g/km

Either the NOx emissions or whether it is registered as Euro4. If TfL recognised it as exempt then it is registered as Euro4 - database updated

Anyone on here with an E9x D3 MT that has information on its ULEZ status and/or they have obtained an emissions certificate and registered the car manually?

Here's the letter I sent TfL via their ULEZ page. I uploaded it along with a copies of the V5C and Certificate of Conformance from Alpina in single PDF. A few days later I receieved an email stating their records had been updated to show it meet the ULEZ requirements.

"To whom it may concern,

Alpina D3 F31 Touring, Registration: <<Reg>>, VIN: <<Alpina VIN per V5C and CoC)

The manufacturer’s conformity certificate (see copy attached from Alpina) states the Particulates to be 0.21mg/Km (0.00021g/Km). As previously advised, the manufacturer’s conformity certificate also states NOx value is 69.6mg/Km (0.0696g/Km). These value are lower than those specified in the Euro 6 emission standard for diesel vehicles (Particulates 0.005g/Km, NOx 0.08g/Km).

Since my vehicle complies with the Euro 6 standard (it is an early adopter of the standard), please grant it the ULEZ exemption.

With thanks, "

I’ve just received an email from alpina classic Germany confirming my e46 B3S is ulez exempt the NOx is 0.0760 , but do I need a certificate from them or is the email proof enough for the DVLA ? Or is it TFL ?

You will need to purchase a certificate from them.

Follow this guide for what to do
