Alpina Production Number Location

Post by IHCKoy » Sun Apr 30, 2023 1:01 pm

Hello All,
I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hello and also ask a question. I recently purchased a 2013 F01 Alpina B7 Xdrive. It is Singapore Grey Metallic. I was going to register it on this site. I was looking on this forum and online to determine its Production Number. The Alpina Tag in the interior is not stamped with a Number. I was wondering on this year of car, is it hidden somewhere out of plain view? Any Suggestions, or is it perhaps in the VIN?

If it is an Alpina VIN (not the struck out BMW VIN) it is the last 3 digits.

Am I right in saying that USA cars only have the original BMW VIN and not the 2 VIN's shown on European cars?

I wasn’t aware of that Stateside, apologies, if that is the case and it’s not on the plaque, then I would see if there’s anything in your ownership documents, especially the Alpina Service book, mine is hand written in there by the dealer (Sytner in the UK), failing that I would speak with the original dealer who supplied it new.

From what I'm lseeing from researching, that seems to be the case here in the USA.

Alpina is a car manufacturer in its' own right but, as I understand it, for the cars to be sold with the BMW VIN scratched and an Alpina VIN instead would have a required a whole load of type approval/crash testing so they are sold as BMWs without the Alpina VIN to avoid any additional legislative requirements.

James
