Spam messages

Post by Charles » Thu Sep 08, 2022 11:14 am

Dear all,

Thanks for the various PMs and reports making me aware of some spam from a new member who I approved yesterday evening. For the record, the account (and any related posts) have been immediately and permanently deleted.

Becoming a member involves several layers of assessment including a final human check that looks at various details, but sometimes some people slip through who then choose to spam the rest of us. Apologies for this but please also understand that no system will ever be perfect.

We operate a zero tolerance policy here and we will permanently delete an account if there is ever any spam posted. This is, of course, subjective, but in virtually all cases it is obvious. It also depends on when we actually access the forum, so please report such posts and we will deal with them - typically within a few hours of them going up.

Many thanks and take care

Charles

As a new user do I need a certain number of posts to send a pm? I have tried to pm a user in regards to a for sale post but it just sits in my outbox. I have also tried messaging you directly regarding this but the same thing happens.

Hi Nick,

You can send PMs straight away. However, the way it works is that a PM stays in your outbox until the recipient opens it. As such, your message has not been read yet.
