Finally in an E91 D3 :)

Post by MattBlake2 » Fri Jul 29, 2022 11:41 pm

After searching for what felt like an eternity, I am finally in an E91 D3! Found #061 in the ‘Alpina’s for sale’ section a couple of weeks back, so thanks for the heads up on this one Hap! It was incorrectly listed on PH so hadn't spotted it! Wasn't too far from me either, just over an hour’s drive. Made a deal on the day and the owner dropped it off to me last Saturday as he was down my way playing golf anyway 😊.

Its a cracking example with ‘just’ 102k miles, properly full service history and great backstory but does need a little bit of love. Nothing crazy, just a proper detail to remove some scuffs and bring the black plastic trim back to life, swirl flaps require deleting ASAP, front bumper could do with a respray and wheels could do with a refurb along with new center badges- all of which will get done over the next few months. Retrofitted cruise control earlier this week too which is a big help on my 70 odd mile daily commute. Bought a 76mm boot badge (BMW) and an ALPINA sticker for the front splitter just to take it back to the original look. Was also in BMWcar magazine back in December 2006 issue which I found on ebay earlier this week 8) although it will probably just live in under the boot floor forever ha!

Yup, they're knackered. I spoke to a nice chap in Sytner Nottingham earlier who gave me all the info really quickly and easily, they also said any BMW can get them in and it will be free shipping etc.. spoke to Haliwell Jones Chester straight after who said they'd call me back. Didn't happen  I'll give them another bell tomorrow to remind. Hopefully have them sorted soon :)

Hi Matt, glad you finally got one! Looks great in the photos and sounds like it will only get better with a bit of TLC. It was worth the wait.

Congratulations on the purchase - enjoy!

Thanks mate! Yeah for sure worth the wait. I was after a BT tourer originally but went to see a couple during the search and neither of them were a perfect fit for various reasons. Also went to see a BT saloon when tourers just weren't coming up for sale but decided it was a bit too small for me (small dog and 2 year old!) so held out and up popped this one just down the road! Seems like it was meant to be :D

That’s a great looking car, good to see it’s getting looked after and run.
