Does anyone have experience of adding CarPlay on the E9X chassis? I‘m about to book Bavarian automotive to do this for the CIC and wondered if anyone has experience of their service, or others?
I’ve added one of the aftermarket Android 10 screens in my E92 B3 BiTurbo. The unit also piggybacks the CCC/CIC software too so both systems are operational and you choose which boots up by default. I have The latest Tom Tom navigation app and full MP3 graphics etc from the touchscreen but also the idrive controller and steering wheel controls work too, front and reverse sensors also work fine with it. The unit has built in wireless CarPlay and
The Android equivalent, also screen mirroring and video from SD card or USB.

I played around with the boot screen so now have a custom Alpina boot animation with logo too.

It was a struggle with room due to the room behind the CCC unit as there is a piggy-back plug for the main quad lock connector. I wired in a reverse camera (generic) replacing the boot handle. The only item I wouldn’t bother with would be the USB DAB I found the reception poor round here with the tape screen antenna but luckily the CCC unit has DAB on mine from factory.

This is Sytner! It’s an Alpina so it’s not got any history in the BMW service records…

At least they’re not the official UK Alpina concessionaire or anything.
That is a load of rubbish! The service records for any Alpina with CBS (condition based servicing) can be updated on the BMW database just like any other BMW using the BMW VIN.

We do this with ALL BMW and Alpinas. I can check previous records as well and its not uncommon for a BMW dealer to forget to update the database, even on later cars that don't have a service book!

PM me the full BMW VIN and I can check it for you.

Just collected the car from BMR yesterday- impeccable service from them, so, so far beyond BMW it is ridiculous!

Barry had two of the 3 UK supplied E91 B3S’ in at the same time so was able to drive mine and the space grey back to back. You don’t get that at any old garage!

We’ve managed a check over and an oil service, BMR we’re trying to have some warranty work done and BMW want a 500 mile check on the leak- yes-N54 with an oil leak- before allowing the claim. So will be back there again soon. At 121,600 miles, I’ve some way to go to catch Charles… and would need some significant change in my usage to even dream of getting to 370,000. Still love reading that thread.

Can only sing the praises of BMR, highly recommended.

I didn’t see the Space grey- my car was there for a week with all of the warranty nonsense going on- but it’s like a sweet shop of BMW goodness there (as you well know, Simon), all sorts. Barry showed me the S14 he’s rebuilt for his lachs silver M3 and it looks better than a new one. There was one of a pair of South African 333i’s in Henna red- guy had one with sunroof, one without! Too much lovely stuff.

I’ll be back there in 2 weeks for the warranty follow up (hopefully to be completed) and some other bits Barry is good enough to help with (I mean, for a fee, of course, but still, proper BMW knowledge and excellence). You’re welcome to drive it if it’s ever convenient- I don’t make it to many car events, but would like to get it around the ‘ring and to Caffeine and Machine, and it’s at goodwood a few times a year. You’ll probably want a manual conversion on it though!!!

Hopefully the owner will see it.

From what I've seen/heard, no one has seen #072 since about 2013 but it is still tramping along, c95k at last MOT.
It was last noted for sale in 2011 and it is the only one of the three with a mythical Drexler LSD.

Thanks, Bob, yes would be good to see them together. Barry and I have been talking about the Drexler, in reality I don’t use the car outside of London enough to make it a sensible addition, but that one time when you’d appreciate it, probably priceless. Mine is the only one without an LSD currently, then. The shame.

There's a green E91 B3 (might be an S) Touring parked a few roads away. Square rear reg so probably an import. Drove past it a few days ago

Is this the one where there was a big hoo-ha on the forum that the guy was importing from Japan?

I think there were initial claims made it was an Allrad and when challenged it didn’t end well!

From memory its got saddle brown leather too, so my dream touring colour combo!
