During an idle moment I hopped onto "How Many Left"
Can't speak for the accuracy of the data - it is HMGs after all.
Was surprised at the number of B5s sold. Looks like Brunhilda and her ilk are almost as common as muck!
Bob might have a better insight into the numbers & flavours of Alpina's on our roads?

Re: Rare? or Not so Rare.
It's an interesting discussion point and one which I've definitely considered a few times.
For me, How Many Left is only as good as the source data and given the variety (randomness) of model descriptions that show up on MOT Histories, the gov.uk Vehicle Checker or other Car Reg Checkers you've got to be at least wary of the data in HML, particularly with older ALPINA models. The F & G series cars are probably pretty close but the anything E series, no chance!
That said, the info I have collated is not without it's limitations. I have tried to gather the total number of UK-spec cars for each model sold here, then identify all the specific build numbers, match those to registration numbers and then use those to check probable survival rates ( I prefer a current MOT to being Taxed/SORN'd to define 'survival').
For example, F10 B5's:
- there were supposed to be 21 sold (split 18 pre-LCI and 3 LCI)
- I have build numbers for the 18 pre's but only 2 LCI
- I have current reg nos for 14 pre's and 0 LCI
- of the 14 pre's: 12 have current MOT, 1 was Exported and 1 is Untaxed/MOT Expired >12mths
The biggest difficulty is keeping track of the current reg nos with out paying for a subscription service which would allow searches of DVLA data by VIN number.
