E92 B3 BT #159 is now in my stewardship

Post by Pondrew » Thu Oct 14, 2021 9:35 pm

Hello,
As of this morning I am the custodian of an E92 B3 Biturbo #159
Absolutely love it so far. I think I've got a good 'un. Every invoice for work done since new is present. Fully documented BMW history is present. One owner (until now). Both turbos have been refurbed (noisy wastegates) and has had a new HP fuel pump. Road tax is PLG so £280 p/a. Great condition car which has obviously been well looked after.
A very few small jobs to do; few stonechips need sorting, engine bay is a little scruffy (for me) and the boot BMW roundel needs replacing. It needs the leather cleaning as it's cream and is a little grubby. And I am going to paint the inside of all four tailpipes in matt stove paint as the two real ones are filthy but the two outers are clean as a whistle (looks odd). I also want to change the side indicator repeater lenses, as they've gone a bit yellow (not sure if they clip on from outside or are a single unit).

Nice one looks very well
Yes the flap in exhaust leave 2 pipes dirty but elbow grease, autosol and 0000 wire wool regular and sealant will stop it getting too dirty and keep all 4 reasonably the same if that makes sense

That B3 looks in great condition, always nice to buy a car from an enthusiast, enjoy the ride!

Hap, what sealant do you use on the tailpipes? I have desperate need to do this on the D5!

Wow that's lovely. I've just changed my side repeaters and they are one unit, just clip in and out.

That looks exceptionally clean. Great colour too as makes the wheels pop. Enjoy.

Thanks for the feedback peeps. So after a couple of days I have cleaned all the inside with leather cleaner and interior cleaner. I tried cleaning the inside of the exhaust tips but the inner two are tarnished so still looked odd. I have now painted the inside of all four with matt high temp paint.
all stonechips have been touched up and one wheel centre cap has been 'adjusted' to sit flush as it was slightly wonky.
I will start on the engine bay tomorrow, if it doesn't rain.
I must say it is so much more of an event to drive than an 'ordinary' E92. Love the exhaust note, liking the switchtronic too now I've worked out how it is supposed to be used.
I did pay strong money for the car, but so far I think I did OK.

I think that's fine if you are buying a great condition car, and it certainly looks like that's the case.

For the leather I would look at these guys, they give great advice over the phone and also do great colour matching if you need touch ups. I use this stuff on my E46 Convertible and my B4

A couple of pictures as requested. They need a bit more polishing on the outer lips and have some water marks from where it rained (too lazy to get the rag out), but you can get the idea :)

Thanks. I have some furniture clinic products which I have used but they were struggling to match the interior colour. Colourlock show it, so may order a small tub of dye and filler. :)
