Finally, fitted a replacement glovebox torch and battery retaining bar, both of which were missing.

Also managed to find a NOS pair of fuse puller clips.

Still on the hunt for two missing tools from the tool box.

Next step is probably grilles and roundels.

Nice work, I like tidying up those little things. Mine had the battery bar missing as well as the breather pipe and the positive terminal plastic cover. I see you don't have the exploding positive terminal lead either - never really sure if that was an idea too far.....

Managed to track down some wheel lock covers for the Softline wheels. They are a very snug fit (read don't fit flush) which may be due to a previous refurb. My plan is to have the wheels stripped and refurbished in the spring anyway.

If anyone has any tips on fitting/removing wheel lock covers, that is much appreciated, am yet to try. Although I have read a few comments about broken keys, which sounds annoying as I am someone that likes to regularly check the pressures.

I've actually seen (on eBay) that Horsham Forge sell a £25 tool to help. Has anyone tried one of these? I don't have any pullers for the wheel lock covers either, so will either track one/some down or just fab' something!

The eBay tool works well - definitely worth getting

I have a puller for the wheel lock covers that was made from what looks like coat hanger wire - seems to do the job

I bought the wheel tool, looks a nice bit of kit, popped it in the boot tidy.

Is the puller an OEM item? I was wondering how I removed those lock covers...

A nice little parcel just arrived from Latvia, NOS replacement interior parts for some that were broken:

- Drivers seat adjustment panel
- Centre console sliding lid cubby
- Front cup holder

When I ever get the time to fit them, ho hum!!!

Next step is to work on the front end.

Front Grille

Time to remove those black grilles and fit some OEM items. Am I right in saying that:
- Pre Facelift (my car) should be a slim profile, chrome on the outside, black on the slats?
- Post Facelift is a fatter (standing proud) profile, chrome on the outside and the slats?

I am pretty much sold on the angel eye headlights, and the lack of gingicators, so do I go Post Facelift, but then my bumper, side mouldings, etc are all wrong anyway, and order with the pre facelift, and have as my car as what it is, a pre-facelift with a lighting upgrade.

Will be buying these OEM, and thinking pre-facelift

Roundels

Time for those Alpina Roundels to go.

Are the roundels on the E39 the same front and rear?

I guess I will buy these OEM, but there seems to be a gaping disparity between eBay and dealer pricing. I am guessing the OEM roundels aren't fancy enamelled metal items that one might assume from their pricing...!

Spoiler

I have reached out to Simon (SPA69) for a set of Deco spoiler decals.

I'm going to need to respray the front spoiler as it has picked up a particularly bad paint chip. I might do front and rear bumpers whilst I am at it.

I am also going to get a detailer to look at the overall condition of the paint on the car. Whilst it is a daily driver for me, I do still like my cars to look nice. Will be interesting to see what I can achieve with a paint and polish.

Re; Roundels. You probably know but going OEM gives you a 2 year guarantee if bought from BMW. Keep up the good work.

Oh Brilliant, thank you both.

I will see whether I can order the lock cover puller, and the roundels.

Now I just need to make a decision on the grille!

Looking through the Archive and Registers you can see quite a mix of pre & post facelift parts on pre-facelift B10's. The main differentiator in terms of updating the overall look is definitely the actual headlights, the grill is more personal preference/availality of parts I'd say.

Hmmm, I am no expert, sorry. I think that angel eyes were introduced in 2001.
