The B10 came up with Trans Failsafe Prog so limped home, this could be expensive :(
Well it did indeed turn out to be the electrical, got a refurbed alternator off eBay for £144. What a messy job it is replacing one on the B10 having to drain the coolant! 550 miles later and no TRANs.FAILSAFE warnings so hopefully that's all sorted.

I've been getting the ABS light coming on occasionally, ever since I fitted an M5 steering box with the steering angle error message in INPA so I just need to reset it I think!

You may need to recalibrate it too.

The ABS popped up on the E92 so after diagnosing the steering angle, off came the wheel as it was making a creaking sound, the slip ring enclosure had come apart a little too, so re-greased the ribbon cables inside, luckily it clipped back together and my Foxwell NT510e meter was able to recalibrate then reset the steering angle.

That's helpful John, so are you saying I need to make sure the s/wheel is 100% straight and then recalibrate/reset the steering angle sensor?

Is the abs light coming on when the steering is straight or when turning? M5 box has a different steering ratio so may need the dsc unit reprogramming.

Otherwise if the steering angle reading is correct (0°when the wheel is straight), I’d be looking into a failing wheel speed sensor or reluctor ring.

One from last week - a trip to Bristol for the Easter holidays. I thought this was a cool photo taken by the kids through the sunroof - bridge and plaque!

Good first post :)

The ABS light comes on sporadically when travelling in a straight line (at various speeds). The error code I'm getting is '41 steering angle plausibility' so I think it just needs calibrating/resetting so I'm desperately trying to get Tool32 working on my XP laptop as I'm told that will fix it for me!

That’s the error was getting after diagnosing with Carly. It would pop up after about half a mile. You can try to recalibrate/reset first then if the ratio is different with the M5 box, perhaps you can fit the original sensor bits back to the wheel, then recalibrate/reset?

Haha thanks!

I think I misunderstood the original post anyway, TC kicking on & the light flashing is typically the reluctor ring. The light staying on indicates a fault which would have the code stored.

Good luck, have a look at the live reading of the steering angle sensor and see how implausible it is. Might need replacing

Fitted a temporary steering wheel today. Its so nice I might leave it on and not bother sending the original back to Buchloe.

Coz its a right knackered looking mess Marc. Scuffed thru the top surface and rhs thumb / palm rest.
Looks like crap, feels like crap, slowly getting worse despite applying all manner of leather potions.
Can't find anyone in the UK who can recover it with Lavalina or duplicate the Alpina stitching.

Tip for the day: Don't clean grease & chemical residues off hands with industrial wet wipes then drive!

Fitted the summer set, with a new pair of PS5 tyres on the rear ( still got plenty of life left on the PS4 fronts).

Similar tread pattern to the PS4, but too soon to offer any thoughts on relative performance.
