BMW ALPINA B3 3.2 Coupé Euro 2 NOx: 0.0671 g/km (P reg 1997 E36) #41
BMW ALPINA B10 3.3 Saloon Euro 3 NOx: 0.037 g/km (W reg 2000 E39) #87
I submitted both at the same time to TfL but only my B10 has been approved as of yet. I'm glad it is the B10 because I received two fines even though I had autopay setup, I was going to ask for a refund once TfL accepted the B10.
I was waiting for the May 2024 Mayor election result before I submitted my V5C to ALPINA, but it took me over a month after the vote to find the V5C for the B10. As the V5C was not in its usual place. It was with all the hard copies of my itinerary and an insurance certificate for the ALPINA 50th celebration trip in 2015, I had forgotten I even kept the itinerary. For the last 9 years when I have needed to SORN or tax the B10 I had page 1 of the V5C scanned on my computer/cloud but not the second page with the VIN which I needed. I needed to drive the B10 at the end of June as I went away for several days, I found the V5C a few days before the trip. I live about 1 mile from the MOT station, I however checked a website (safe to assume it's an unofficial website) showing all the ULEZ cameras. There are no ULEZ cameras to and from the MOT station and a petrol station on the way when I purchased 97RON not 99 as it is not a Shell. At the junction of the nearest Shell there are 2 ULEZ cameras, I could have been sneaky to avoid them. However I may not have missed them as it is tricky at that Shell because it is about 100 yards from those two ULEZ cameras and it could be pointing to the entrance and exit of the garage. I said to myself at the time I don't mind paying and asking for 2 autopay refunds but not 3, but now it would have meant appealing against 3 fines. There is either a bug with autopay or unclear as a few people have been caught because and apparently you need to pay for one entry first and on that same card, then setup autopay. It is unclear if these are the steps to take for autopay to work correctly to pay for ULEZ and Congestion Charge. But what do I know there is nothing like taxing the poorest in society and making it as difficult as possible which allows them not to pay so they receive a penalty charge
ALPINA made a typo with the B3 emission certificate and I spotted it just before I pressed submit on the TfL website. ALPINA was professional and without hesitation rectified it. No prizes but you can take a guess (some people will spot it straight away therefore write spotted and if no replies or everyone has had a bit of fun I will update with the correct answer in a few days, or you can also PM with the right answer). I have defaced the emissions certificate as I am not sure if a full template (not sure if template is the correct word to use) should be in the public domain, I don't think it matters but just in case
To answer an earlier question in the thread:
This is from ALPINA via email. Cars before 2010 were approved and tested individually and a special OEM confirmation with the relevant ULEZ data can be provided. It doesn't say this exactly in the email but I do presume (CoC) Certificate of Conformity is from 2010 and I therefore will assume bulk testing is from that point and other manufacturers may have done it earlier or differently when they implemented CoC
I am starting to see more E39s and E46s mainly 330i and 530i in the last few weeks in my area because since last year I only saw a handful. The word is getting out there to check NOx
I feel sorry for cars and their owners from 1983 to 2005 as some are future classics, or should that be the cars were a future classic and are now being used for recycling purposes by being made into tin cans
