E39 B10 V8S springs

Post by PliSsK » Tue Aug 03, 2021 3:02 pm

Hi there, is anyone able to tell me what the part numbers are for the front and rear springs for a B10 V8S saloon please? I had a look in the catalogue and there are 2 part numbers for front springs and 2 for rear, all applicable for both the V8 and V8S, but each part number shows a quantity of 2, which makes me think they come in pairs and so why should there be two part numbers for fronts for instance if the springs were in fact the same for the V8 and V8S? I have a V8 and need new front springs (as one has snapped) and was doing some digging about an upgrade to V8S springs but the catalogue is unclear about whether there is any difference or not and the dealers including Sytner don't seem to have any idea. TIA!

The two different part numbers will be for differently optioned cars meaning different weights requiring a different spring rate.

The catalogue states part number "depends on car, please state chassis number" which will be to determine what the factory spec of the car is.

There is no difference between V8 and V8S springs.

Thanks. I am surprised there would be that much difference in weight depending on options, I assume we're just talking a few extra modules in the boot or similar.

No we will be talking the difference between things like double glazing, electric seats, sat nav, glass sunroof etc etc so when combined on none/very fitted there will be a differnce.

BMW use a spring table for all their cars using the list of options fitted to work out which springs are needed.

Out of interest, do you happen to know what the lowering is at the front and the back on the correct spec springs pls?

Thanks, I should have looked before asking really, and whilst there was a lot of useful information in there, it did not address that particular question, but I was just curious. Cheers.
